Restaurant on Wheels launched at Itarsi Station
Carrying forward their chain of ‘Restaurant on Wheels’, Indian Railways has launched another rail coach restaurant at Itarsi Station, Madhya Pradesh. Ministry of Railways announced the launch on Twitter & Facebook and posted some pictures of the same. (image credits- Twitter- Ministry of Railways)
Key features
As the name suggests, ‘Restaurant on Wheels’ means a proper dining place inside a railway coach. With bright red exteriors and aesthetic beige-white-brown interiors, ‘Restaurant on Wheels’ is all set to provide a wholistic food experience to the customers. The restaurant is named ‘Ahaar’ and will be open to all, be it passengers or the public.

Central Railway opened ‘Restaurant on Wheels’ at Asansol Station in West Bengal on February 26, 2020. Another such restaurant was opened by the Nagpur Division of the Central Railway zone at Nagpur railway station in Maharashtra on February 4, 2020. A ‘Restaurant on Wheels’ can also be seen at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus Mumbai.
All these restaurants are decorated with beautiful interiors and offer a unique experience to diners with North, South and Continental cuisine. The restaurants are open 24x7 for both passengers and the general public.
Food in trains
Apart from this, Indian Railways is continuously bettering their food experience to make the journey a whole new experience for the passengers. Food can not only be booked in advance (while booking the ticket), but can also be ordered directly from the IRCTC website.
