How to make beer cocktail

Most of us are working, socializing, shopping, and partying from home. Monsoon chills paired with cocktails and endless calls with friends make for a great combination, even if it’s virtual! Heard of beer cocktails? Believe it or not, beer is a much easier option to blend as there are many variations in flavor, aroma, and appearance. ‘Beertails’ are one of the easiest drinks to make and are perfect for weekends at home. This International Beer Day, unleash your inner mixologist and celebrate the day to express your love for the dear drink. Be responsible and drink in moderation with these seven ways to create a punchy beer cocktail that will make you cherish the drink even more! (Image: istock)

Keep it simple

Beer is a brewed beverage, which makes the cocktail recipe simple and easy to crack. When it comes to making beer cocktails at home, the best bet is to go simple. Build around the flavors of your beer and you’ll have a solid beer cocktail. (Image: istock)

Which beer to use?

Lager is a safe bet as it’s neutral in taste and has the tingle to it. This gives the cocktail a boost and a perfect chance for you to experiment.

Wheat beer tastes bitter, smoky, and lemony, so create your cocktail recipe accordingly. When it comes to dark and broody stout, it’s best suited to be matched with chocolate and deep coffee when creating your blend. (Image: istock)

Shake, or not to shake?

Good blending is the key to any cocktail! As a rule, cocktails that should be shaken are ones that contain dairy, cream liqueurs, fruit juices, eggs, or sour mix.

Beer, however, is a carbonated drink and is best when stirred. Another way is to shake your base spirit with juice then slowly adding beer afterward. Neat! (Image: istock)

Add salt

Wait.. salt in beer? This may be hard to believe but once you implement it, there’s no going back! Salt makes the beer tangier and will make you savor your beer cocktail better. Some macro breweries even include salt in the brewing process to retain the taste. (Image: istock)

Beer + Beer

Beer is well known for its low liquor content and refreshing taste, making it the perfect social drink. But could a beer cocktail be made using two different kinds of beer? When mixing different beers, be mindful of their styles- very different styles go well together: think dark lager plus pale ales, or stouts plus lambics. (Image: istock)

Fruits in beer

Blueberry and raspberry stouts are loved by many across the globe. While you can add fruit or fruit flavoring to any style of beer, wheat beers are a popular style to add fruit to. With quite a lot of fruit options available to add in, which one is the safest bet?

The easiest way to add fruit flavor to your beer is to use a fruit extract. Simply pour in from a keg into the beer. You can also try adding fruit purees to your beer cocktail to give your own tang to it. Frozen berries are another way to add flavor and keep beer cold longer. (Image: istock)

Final words

Beer can be so much and more if you make the most of it. If you are not drinking beer as a cocktail, you’re missing out! This International Beer Day, give them a try at home and say cheers responsibly! (Image: istock)
