Karachi Bakery found flouting food safety rules, selling expired products
Hyderabad-based iconic Karachi Bakery, known for its biscuits and rusks since 1953 recently came into radar of the Commissioner of Food Safety for Telangana along with many other food stores for selling expired food products and improper labelling.
The latest update says that the officials recently made a visit to the iconic bakery and discovered multiple violations of FSSAI (Food Safety and Standards Authority of India) regulations including expired rusks, biscuits, candy, improper labelling of pastries use date.
In a post on X, the Commissioner of Food Safety, Telangana, said, “Task force has conducted inspections at Moazzam Jahi Market area recently."
“At ‘Bilal Ice Cream’, the outlet and their manufacturing unit have been found operating without any valid license/registration. The fake brand water bottles found. Also, notice issued and action will be taken," it further added.

As per the post, Karachi Bakery was serving the expired stocks of Rusks, biscuits, candy, chocolate cakes, toasts and buns worth ₹5,200 were discarded. Use by dates not displayed on pastries and cakes, thereby violating the FSSAI regulations. Also, multiple unlabelled products were found violating the FSSAI Act.
Earlier, on May 4, the Food Safety Task Force inspected the Himayatnagar area and identified multiple violations at Clove Vegetarian Fine Dine, which included expired products such as cheese, syrup, ATC spices, sandwich bread, and brown sugar. Also, live cockroaches were discovered in the ice cream storage unit, and carrots showed signs of fungal infestation. As per the X post, there was unkept cooked vegetable biryani in the fridge.
