How fruits help boost longevity and heart health

Fruits are often considered as superfoods that help boost immunity, metabolism, and overall health. They are rich in nutrients that help improve gut health and boost the overall functioning of the body. As per a study by the National Library of Medicine, Estimating impact of food choices on life expectancy: A modeling study, "A sustained dietary change may give substantial health gains for people of all ages both for optimized and feasible changes." Referring to those sustained dietary changes, health and beauty expert, Dimple Jangda says that there are 5 fruits that one should include in their diet to improve longevity and keep the heart healthy. Blueberries


Blueberries are rich in powerful antioxidants, particularly anthocyanins, which help protect the body from oxidative stress and reduce inflammation. They are excellent for brain health, improving memory and cognitive function while lowering the risk of age-related decline. Rich in vitamin C, fiber, and potassium, blueberries support heart health by regulating blood pressure and improving cholesterol levels. Their natural compounds also promote healthy digestion and boost the immune system. As per Dimple, they are low on GI index, which makes them ideal for diabetics.
How to eat: As per Dimple, a handful of blueberries on a daily basis is good for an adult.

Apples


They are packed with fiber, vitamins, and antioxidants that promote overall health. Their high fiber content aids digestion, supports gut health, and helps regulate blood sugar levels. Rich in flavonoids and vitamin C, apples strengthen the immune system and reduce inflammation. Also, polyphenols in apples contribute to heart health by lowering bad cholesterol (LDL) and regulating blood pressure. As per Dimple, they also contain a compound called pectin, which helps boost digestive health. Apples contain vitamin C and polyphenols that strengthen the immune system and fight inflammation.
How to eat: As per Dimple, for those with constipation, stewed apples are the best way to consume apples.

Pomegranate


Pomegranate are a powerhouse of antioxidants, particularly punicalagins and anthocyanins, which help reduce inflammation and protect the heart. They are also rich in vitamin C, potassium, and fiber, that boost immunity, aid digestion and also regulate blood pressure. Pomegranates are also known to improve blood circulation and may help reduce the risk of heart disease by preventing plaque buildup in arteries. Their natural compounds are said to promote healthy skin, enhance memory, and may even have anti-cancer properties.
How to eat: As per Dimple, consuming a bowl of pomegranate with a pinch of black pepper and cinnamon powder to aid digestion.

Avocado


They are packed with heart-healthy monounsaturated fats that help lower bad cholesterol (LDL) and increase good cholesterol (HDL). The rich amount of potassium found in this fruit helps regulate blood pressure and reduce the risk of heart disease. Avocados are also loaded with fiber, aiding digestion and promoting gut health. Their high content of antioxidants like lutein and zeaxanthin supports eye health, while vitamin E and C contribute to glowing skin and strong immunity. The fiber content promotes satiety, which aids weight loss.
How to eat: They are best consumed raw with a pinch of salt and pepper on a toast. Also, avocado can be eaten with adding eggs to the avocado cavites and baking them to perfection.

Oranges


Oranges are proven to be rich in vitamin C that help improve immunity and also reduce cholesterol levels keeping heart healthy. They are rich in potassium that help balance sodium levels, reducing blood pressure. It is said that flavonoids (Hesperidin) found in oranges help improve circulation and reduce hypertension risk. And fiber found in them supports heart health and stabilizes blood pressure.
How to eat: As per Dimple, they are best consumed as a whole fruit, and one should avoid it in the form of juice.

Grapes


Red and purple grapes contain Resveratrol, a powerful antioxidant that reduces inflammation and protects the heart. It is said that they support healthy blood flow and improve circulation and lowers blood pressure. Also, they help lower bad cholesterol (LDL) and keep arteries clear. Grapes are also a good source of fiber, especially with the skin on—helps in preventing constipation and maintaining gut health. Grapes also have mild laxative properties due to natural sorbitol. However, it is best to conusme in moderation as they have high sugar content.

while oranges and apples are traditionally appear in the list from long time, there should be a mixed of oriental fruits that could be considered as part of the list such as coconut, pineapples guava and papaya of its kind that had been reported with lots more vitamin-c contents
