Honey is one of the common sweeteners that people consume around the world. It is something that people love to enjoy with green/black tea, desserts, pancakes, etc. On an average, the cost of honey varies depending on several factors such as the type of honey, the location where it's produced, and the quality of the honey. Which is the costliest honey?

The costliest honey in the world is ‘Elvish honey’, which is a rare and expensive variety produced in Turkey's Black Sea region. This honey is known for its unique flavour and high price and is a much sought-after delicacy for foodies and connoisseurs alike. It is also known as the purest honey in the world.

3/5

Why Elvish honey is so expensive?

This honey is extracted from a cave that’s 1800 meters deep in Artvin city of Turkey, and it is one of the major reasons why it costs so much. Also, this honey is extracted only once a year and this is why it is sold very expensive. However, this honey is not alone as there are other expensive honey varieties as well such as Israel's Life Mel Honey, which is the second most expensive in the world and second in good quality, and costs about 50 thousand rupees per kg currently.

4/5

What makes this honey so special?

The most special thing about this honey is that it is not sweet like common honey but a little bitter and is considered very beneficial for health. It is rich in several nutrients like antioxidants, magnesium, potassium, etc.

5/5

How Elvish honey is extracted?

To increase the quality of this honey, the company prepares it in a forest cave away from the congested areas of the city. The cave from which it is extracted has medicinal plants all around, so that bees can prepare a medicinal honey by sucking the juice of these flowers. Before selling this honey in the market, its quality is checked by the Turkish Food Institute and only after that it is allowed to be sold to the customers.
