Foods that reduce cholesterol and triglycerides


The human heart plays a crucial role in the overall functioning of the body. Hence, it also calls for extra care. Addressing the same, health and wellness expert Dimple Jangda recently talked about it in a reel on Instagram, where she focused on top foods for heart health that can help reduce cholesterol and triglycerides. In her post, she mentioned that taking care of your heart starts with simple, natural choices — like adding Ayurvedic foods to your plate. "Flaxseeds, turmeric, amla, and leafy greens not only bring flavor but also help lower cholesterol and triglycerides, keeping your heart happy and strong," she added in the post.

According to her post, Ayurveda teaches us that balanced, mindful eating protects the heart and nourishes the whole body. So, let’s embrace these timeless foods and habits to celebrate life with a healthy, joyful heartbeat. Scroll down to read the details.

Amla



Also known as Indian gooseberry, they are a rich source of vitamin C, antioxidants and have anti-inflammatory properties. They also reduce cholesterol and triglycerides and improve your heart health and immunity, states Dimple.

Fenugreek seeds



These tiny seeds also called methi seeds contain fiber , and a compound called saponin. When you boil these seeds in water, it helps in reducing cholesterol, triglycerides, and at the same time improves your arteries health and thus boost the heart function. One can consume 1 tsp fenugreek seeds soaked overnight in one glass of water. Next morning, boil it and bring it to half in the same water, strain and drink it empty stomach, recommends Dimple.

Bark of Arjuna tree


According to Dimple, it's one of the most powerful antidotes for heart health issues. You can simply boil the bark in water or boil it with milk and drink it at bedtime. It improves heart health.

Flax Seeds


They are a rich source of fiber, omega-3 fatty acids, lignans, and help in lowering cholesterol and triglycerides and improving heart health. One can simply use them as a garnish in salads, fruit bowls, or add to smoothies and shakes to gain maximum benefits.

Garlic




Dimple suggests chewing one piece of garlic early in the morning on an empty stomach. This helps lower bad cholesterol and boosts heart health.
