Which milk is healthy?

Milk is an important constituent of our daily diet. Be it tea, coffee, shake, smoothie, or in the raw form; milk is consumed in some or the other form by us. Furthermore, milk is essential for the well-being of our body because of its several health benefits. Milk is an excellent source of vitamins and minerals. It is an excellent source of potassium, B12, calcium and vitamin D. Additionally, milk is also a rich source of protein and contains hundreds of different fatty acids, including conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) and omega-3s.

Many varieties of milk are available in the market that comes from different natural sources like a cow, buffalo, goat, sheep, etc. Also, there are some other kinds of milk like almond milk, soy milk, oat milk, etc., that come from different sources. With so many different types of milk available in the market, it is necessary to know the nutritional value of each of them and which one of them is the healthiest. Here is a look at six healthy milk options.

2/7

Oat milk

Made by soaking whole oats, oat milk is naturally sweet and is high in carbs. Interestingly, it is a bit creamier because it contains some soluble fibre. The soluble fibre absorbs water and turns into a gel during digestion, which helps slow digestion and keeps you full for longer and helps stabilize your blood sugar levels. Oat milk may also help reduce your cholesterol levels.

3/7

Coconut milk

Coconut milk is made from the white flesh of a coconut and possesses a pleasant flavour. It contains medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs), which researchers have linked with weight loss. It also contains a lipid called lauric acid that can support the immune system. Additionally, coconut milk lowers blood pressure and cholesterol, builds muscle and helps reduce fat.

4/7

Almond milk

It is made by soaking almonds in water and then blending and straining away the solids. When consumed in unsweetened form, almond milk is low in calories and much lower in carbs than the cow milk. This makes it a good choice for those who follow a low carb diet. Furthermore, almond milk is a tasty non-dairy milk alternative for people who cannot tolerate dairy milk or are lactose intolerant.

5/7

Hemp milk

It is made from whole hemp seeds and is known to be rich in high-quality plant protein, healthy fats, and minerals. This milk is known to be highly nutritious and has more protein and healthy fats than other popular plant-based types of milk. As compared to cow milk, hemp milk has fewer calories, less protein and carbs but roughly the same amount of fat.

6/7

Soy milk

It is a plant-based drink produced by soaking and grinding soybeans, boiling the mixture, and filtering out remaining particulates. Soy milk is a good source of potassium, vitamins A, B-12, and D, as well as calcium. It contains as much protein as cow milk, yet it is lower in calories than the whole milk.

7/7

Cow milk

The most commonly consumed dairy milk, cow milk is a good source of high-quality protein. It is naturally rich in calcium, B vitamins, and many minerals. It also contains vitamin A and D, making it a very nutritious food for both children and adults.

You forgot to cover that Soy Milk also has a high level of estrogen, the consumption of which in males isn't very appealing to the body for obvious feminine reasons!
