Winter Special: How to make Bengali-style Coconut Laddoo with Jaggery (Narkel Naru)

Right way to make Narkel Naru

Narkel Nadu is a traditional Bengali sweet treat made with coconut and jaggery and is a winter must-have. The freshness of grated tender coconut pulp and the aroma of melted jaggery together make it a delectable treat that is often loved by people of all age groups. Here's the simplest recipe to try at home.

Ingredients



2 cups fresh coconut, 3/4 cup jaggery, 2-4 tbsp water, 1/2 tsp green cardamom powder, and 2 tbsp ghee

Step 1


To begin with, break the coconut and grate it using a coconut grater.

Now, heat a pan, add ghee and grated coconut and cook it for 3-5 minutes on a low flame.

Next, heat another pan and add jaggery and water. Melt it on a low flame.

Now, transfer the melted jaggery to coconut mixture. Mix well and cook on low heat until the mixture thickens and starts leaving the sides of the pan.

Add cardamom powder and some more ghee, if required.

While the mixture is warm, grease your palm with some ghee and shape the mixture into small laddoos.

Let them cool down and store in an air-tight container. Enjoy!
