Want people to like you?

People's likes and dislikes differ. However, there is one common thing we all wish for and that is to be liked by the ones around us. Be it seeking validation in real life (or social media), just the feeling of being liked can positively impact you and psychologically force you to make better decisions. It can also de-stress you, make you feel like you belong and not to forget, induce the happy hormone (dopamine) in your brain which refreshes you.

2/11

It makes you a better person!

Liking, acceptance, and feeling validated impacts your personality and self-esteem.

So, consider them to be simple conversation hacks or tips for better living, using these particular phrases the next time you are talking to someone will actually do you good. For all intents and purposes, make a good and lasting impression!

3/11

“I want to hear”

People like to talk about themselves (don't we all do?) and contribute to a given conversation in any way they can. Always keep your ear open and highlight that you would love to hear about the other person. Ask them to share information, details and they will be more than delighted and have a positive impact on you.

4/11

“What do you think?”

The number one thing people like is to feel like they belong and their opinions to be considered. When you are engaged in a conversation with a casual stranger or even a potential client, if you take the effort to make the other person feel considered, the likability level increases automatically. Make people feel valued just the way you would want to feel.

5/11

“Please/Thank you”

Kindness never costs and this is one thing that most of us have been taught right from the start. Simply uttering these words makes the other person feel appreciated and welcome and earns you respect too. This can also work when you extend an arm and pitch in your efforts too.

6/11

“You are welcome”

According to personality development experts, there is one big change you should be making in your dictionary and this will instantly make people like you more. Go ahead and stop saying "no problem" and instead say "you are welcome". The reason behind, you ask? When you say something positive and acknowledge-worthy, it makes the other person feel grateful and thank you for your efforts.

7/11

“I will find out”

When a person knows there is another person tagging along helping them, they will definitely feel good about you. This also lets them know that you are willing to do something for them in times of need.

8/11

“I believe in you”

Simply saying these 4 words of positivity can make a big difference. Not only will this make people like you more, it will also make the other person feel they aren't alone. A pat on the back and saying you believe in someone will do a lot of favours.

9/11

“Sorry for this”

This might seem contradictory but whenever you are involved in a conversation, pause and blurt out 'sorry'. When you express a little sympathy, people feel appreciated. A study conducted in the journal, Social Psychological and Personality Science also found that people who apologized were seen as more trustworthy than others.

10/11

“ To be honest”

You might feel that being blunt is going to cost you but if you really want to win brownie points and get people to like you, genuinely, say whatever is on your mind and dish out your honest opinions. Plus, it can be incredibly anxiety-inducing and triggering to not know what exactly is going on in a current situation.

11/11

"I think you can do better"

This phrase reads like a mixed bag of compliments and criticism but it is quite balanced actually. Telling this to someone instills a sense of confidence in them but also lets them know you are rooting for them to do a lot more.
