6 foods with a high amount of antioxidant resveratrol as in glass of red wine

Resveratrol is an antioxidant found in red wine, which is very powerful. It has been associated with heart health, anti-inflammatory benefits and anti-aging effects. Although red wine does contain this useful compound, it is in fairly small quantities per glass and one needs to consume several glasses to avail maximum benefits. The average amount of resveratrol in red wine is about 0.27 milligrams per 100 millilitres. There good news is, there are several foods with considerable amount of resveratrol as found in wine. Grapes ( red or purple)

It is a naturally occurring product in the skins of grapes (red and purple varieties, in particular). Consuming whole grapes does not only provide a greater quantity of this antioxidant than red wine, but also additional fiber, water and other polyphenols. Fresh grapes make a tasty, thirst quenching snack, promote heart health and have anti-inflammatory properties, but lack the drawback of alcohol. Grapes contain between 0.07925 and 1.535 milligrams of resveratrol per 100 grams.

Blueberries

Blueberries are tiny yet powerful in containing antioxidants. They are also rich in resveratrol and antioxidants such as anthocyanins and flavonoids which enhance the immune system of the brain and heart. These can be consumed daily to tally up your antioxidants intake. Blueberries contain around 0.1 milligrams per 100 grams of resveratrol.

Peanuts

Amazingly, resveratrol is abundant in peanuts. Raw and roasted peanuts are both very rich in this antioxidant. They also contain nutritious fats, protein and necessary minerals. An easy product to make resveratrol more a part of your diet is a small handful of peanuts or peanut butter spread on whole-grain toast. Peanuts contain 0.08 to 0.15 milligrams of resveratrol per 100 grams.

Dark chocolate (cocoa)

Cocoa products particularly​ dark chocolate are abound in many antioxidants among which is resveratrol. When selecting dark chocolate, use the products containing at least 70% of cocoa so that you will consume the antioxidant substance and less sugar. Dark chocolate (cocoa) contains 0.124 milligram of resveratrol per 100 grams.

Pistachios

Pistachios are rich in nutrients, contain protein as well as fiber, and healthy fats along with an ample amount of antioxidants. Eat them roasted or unsalted with some salads and yogurt bowls. Pistachios contain 0.009 to 0.167 milligram of resveratrol in per 100 grams.

Mulberries

Mulberries are not as widespread as grapes or blueberries, nevertheless, one of the richest fruit sources of resveratrol is Mulberry. They also contain a lot of vitamin C, iron and fibre. Fresh, dried or juice, mulberry is one of the most efficient foods to keep cardiovascular system and immune system healthy. Mulberries contain 0.048 to 5.061 milligrams of resveratrol in per 100 grams.
