Samantha loves coffee

Superstar Samantha is a big fan of coffee, especially filter coffee. Filter coffee is a South Indian classic beverage -- a perfect blend of strong and bitter-sweet taste, and creamy-frothy texture brewed to perfection.

In a previous episode of Upasana Konidela's ‘Ur Life’, Samantha prepared a super delicious and healthy recipe -- filter coffee chia pudding. This recipe is vegan so can be enjoyed by everyone, and coffee lovers in particular.

Benefits of chia seeds

Chia seeds contain antioxidants, minerals, fiber, and omega-3 fatty acids. They can help stabilize blood sugar, promote energy and endurance, promote heart health, and support strong bones. The fiber and protein in chia seeds may benefit those trying to lose weight.

Vegan recipe

This recipe is vegan as it is prepared using coconut milk. When followed correctly, a vegan diet promotes weight loss, reduces your risk of heart diseases, lowers cholesterol levels and also helps manage diabetes. If you are switching to a vegan diet, you can consult a nutritionist so that you do not miss out on any other nutrients.

Ingredients you need

  • Chia seeds 1/4 cup
  • Maple/jaggery syrup 1/4 cup
  • Coconut milk 1/2 cup
  • Filter coffee/instant coffee decoction 2 tbsp
  • Cocoa powder 2 tbsp

How to make the pudding

The cooking time for this recipe takes about 20 minutes. It is a quick, easy, fuss-free, budget-friendly, healthy and vegan recipe. The recipe has been created by Aditi Mammen Gupta. This high fiber recipe has 145 calories per serving.

Mix all the ingredients together in a big bowl. Add a couple tablespoons of water if the mixture looks too thick. Refrigerate it overnight so it sets and becomes thick and chilled. You can enjoy it the next day by serving it in small glasses and top it with some chopped dry fruits, granola and chocolate chips.

What is the best time to consume chia seeds?

Consuming chia seeds in the morning on an empty stomach is considered to be the best time to consume them. They help to increase your metabolism and support the digestion of what you will eat during the day. If you are a person who cannot do it without drinking coffee first thing in the morning, try replacing it with this recipe which is effortless, delicious and more nourishing to be the first thing you consume in the morning, compared to plain old cup of Joe.
