Breakfast toasts recipes

Unless you are following intermittent fasting under the supervision of a nutritionist, skipping your breakfast may not be a good idea. But, despite knowing and even feeling hungry, we often end up skipping the first meal of the day due to running late or having no time to prepare a proper breakfast.

If you feel the same, healthy toasts recipes are here for your rescue. These will easily fill you up and will only require a handful of ingredients. Make sure you use whole wheat bread.

2/6

Low-fat French toast

We all love the buttery French toast. However, if you are trying to lose weight or reduce your butter consumption for a healthier diet, try this recipe.

Take a bowl and break 2-3 eggs in it. Whisk it well. Add ⅓ cup of skim milk, ⅓ teaspoon of ground cinnamon and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. Whisk everything again till nicely combined.

Now dip the pieces of bread in the egg mixture and place them on a nonstick pan over medium heat. Use minimum olive oil for cooking. Make sure the eggs are nicely cooked from both sides till the toast is brown. Serve hot or pack it in your tiffin to carry.

Grilled masala toast

This toast recipe is packed with tangy and spicy masala, with the goodness of fibre-rich veggies. To prepare this toast, first finely chop 1 onion, 1 capsicum and 1 carrot. Combine all three in a bowl and add 1/2 tsp red chili powder, 1/2 tsp pepper, 1/2 tsp coriander powder and salt as per taste. Saute the veggies for a few minutes in minimum oil.

Now take a piece of bread and add the filling on it in a good quantity. Cover it with another slice of bread. Put a little oil on the outer sides of both breads and set it in a grill sandwich maker. Once grilled, serve hot or wrap it up and carry to eat later.

Peanut butter banana toast

If you are craving something sweet, healthy and easy to prepare, this recipe with no added sugar is perfect for you. Take 1 piece of bread and toast it in a toaster or on a lightly-oiled pan. Once done, place it over a plate and cover it generously with peanut butter spread. Now take a fresh banana and cut half of it into small pieces. Place these over the toast and finish off by sprinkling some ground cinnamon. Enjoy!

5/6

Egg in a blanket

Take 1 slice of bread and cut out a heart-shaped piece from its center using a cookie cutter. Heat a little oil in a pan and place the slice of bread on it. Let it turn golden-brown from both sides. Slowly break an egg into the heart-shaped cavity. Cover the pan with a lid and let it cook for about 3-4 minutes. Once the egg is cooked, take the toast off the heat. Season it with some salt, pepper, chili flakes and oregano.

Cucumber hummus toast

A super easy and healthy toast, this one is both creamy and crunchy with a super fresh flavor. It is recommended to make hummus at home beforehand, and store it for use. However, if you are too short of time, you can also use store-bought hummus, available in many flavors.

Take a piece of bread and toast it. Now cover it up with 2 tablespoons of hummus. Wash, peel and chop a cucumber into slices and add these on the toast. You can add as many slices of cucumber as possible. Sprinkle some salt and pepper.
