Maintain your weight without giving up on your favourite foods

Rajma rice or Rajma chawal is undoubtedly one of the most delicious, lip-smacking Indian meals of all! Rich in protein, iron and carbohydrates, rajma chawal is a perfect combination of grains and legumes. Rajma or kidney beans in itself is a powerhouse of nutrients such as dietary fiber, potassium, fiber, zinc, and magnesium. That said, it is not only good for your overall health, but also, given the high fibre-content, keeps you fuller for a longer period of time, in turn helping in weight loss.

But still so, those who are trying to maintain a healthy weight, are on a low-carb diet or are keeping themselves away from their favourite foods, here are some tips and tricks to enjoy rajma chawal, without jeopardising your fitness goals...

Watch your portions

Portion control is an effective way to maintain a healthy weight. It not only keeps a check on the quantity of food you put inside your body, but also ensures that you're eating in moderation. If you're someone who loves rajma rice, but are on a diet and are limiting yourself from the delight, then portion control is the right approach for you. The key is to NOT overeat. Choose a small plate, measure your portions, eat slowly and chew your food properly. This will help you eat your favourite food, without affecting your weight loss goals.

Choose your rice wisely

Another way to enjoy rajma rice without influencing your weight is by selecting a healthier version of rice. So if you're on a diet, choose brown rice, as it is said to be a more favorable choice for weight loss. It has more nutrients, contains more fiber and antioxidant properties.

4/6

Use healthy cooking oil

Stop making use of refined oil, rather cook your rajma in olive oil, avocado oil, coconut oil, sunflower oil or ghee. These cooking oils are healthy and are also great for those watching their weight.

A bowl of salad to go with the rajma rice

Rajma rice is quite loaded with simple carbs, which is why it can get digested easily and leave you hungry. According to Nutritionist Disha Sethi, a plate of salad along with portion-controlled rajma rice can help curb cravings for a longer time. Plus, it also provides you with additional nutrients.

6/6

Chia water before having your meal

The best way to achieve your weight loss goals without giving up on your favourite foods is by drinking chia water before having a meal including rajma chawal. Chia seed water is packed with fiber and therefore improves satiety. This not only prevents overeating, but also helps with weight loss.
