Want to stay fit like Varun Dhawan?

Celebrities do have an army of trainers and specialists working at their beck and call but you cannot ignore the dedication and hard work they put in to be in shape.

2/8

Want six pack abs?

And one star that is attracting a lot of interest, both on the box office and on the fitness front, is Varun Dhawan, who is clearly acing it all.

3/8

Go follow Varun Dhawan!

If you decide to stalk through his Instagram feed, there is one thing you cannot miss. It is his obsession with fitness. In fact, he is one celebrity whom you have to follow through and through! Here are some of the secrets you should adopt at all costs. Guys, pay attention!

4/8

Listen to your body

If you want to get the body (and the abs) of your dreams, it is also important that you listen to what your body is trying to tell you. Just as much time as you devote building a bulked-up body, you should also allow yourself some rest and time to heal. This is something Varun personally follows and coaches his fans to do too! In an interview, the 32-year old recommended his fans to focus on the body's natural strength and not overdo it,

“Rather than focusing on huge and bulked up the body, aim to acquire a limber body. As you grow older, the natural suppleness of body begins getting down, as a result of which you become vulnerable to injuries. A lithe body not only looks influential, but it is also powerful too.”

He also disclosed his personal gym secrets: "Applying ice to sore muscles helps. Also, when I hit the gym, I wear a safety belt. It cushions my spine. I also enjoy a body massage. It’s a great therapy for the muscles.”

5/8

Switch up your workout routines

If you thought Pilates was just for women, you couldn't be more wrong. Varun Dhawan is one actor who swears by the magic of Pilates and often experiments with his workout routine. From strength training, martial arts to yoga and heavy cardio, a lot of hard work and grueling hours at the gym in getting the abs of your dreams! While weightlifting helps him tone his body and bulk up whenever the script demands it, he suggests his fans aim towards having a flexible body.

6/8

Homemade is happy

A true desi boy at heart, Varun Dhawan cannot do without ghar ka khaana prepared by his mom! However, to keep it on the healthier scale, he does make a few swaps whenever he can. “Eat what your mother tells you. But not always, because some mothers will prescribe buttermilk, parathas with ghee, etc.’ On a serious note, don’t eat too many carbs at night. That is something I follow.” As a general rule, Varun avoids anything high on salt, sugar, and drinks a lot of water through the day. He also snacks on handy food items like lotus seeds, protein smoothies, fruits!

7/8

Keep alternating

The mantra behind Varun Dhawan looking his best 24x7 is his 'never say never attitude'. He knows his body's strength and also knows when he can take it up a notch. For movies that require intensive prep and he prepares accordingly. Here is a little piece of information about his fitness regime that will inspire you:

"For Dishoom, he trained nonstop for three months with celebrity fitness trainer Prashant Sawant and Rohan Sawant. He wrote on Instagram, “Give it all or nothing.” Varun also stepped up his workout routine for his most recent movie. Changing training methods keep gym workouts very interesting."

8/8

Stay motivated

Believe it or not, beyond the actual workout and diet, there is a bigger force at play and that is keeping yourself motivated and positive all through the body. Varun, for one, relies on his trainer to get his daily dose of #fitinspiration when he is feeling down in the dumps. In an interview, the actor said,

“Prashant knows how to motivate me. He applies reverse psychology. When I feel tired and low he shows me my old pictures. He tells me how great my body looked six months ago and that what I have now is also okay though not as great. That stimulates me instantly to work harder.”
