The right way to end a workout

Dedicating some time of your day to exercise daily is one of the best things you can do to stay fit and healthy. Even a 20-minute well-planned workout may help you in numerous ways. But whether you will be able to reap all its benefits or not depends on several factors. For many, correcting the form and increasing the number of reps seems the only way to get the best out of any workout routine. In reality, what you do after that is equally crucial. We all are particular about the way we begin our workout and hardly pay attention at the end, which reduces the positive effect of the workout on our body. Here we will tell you the right way to end your workout to gain maximum benefit from it.

2/5

The importance of stretching

Cooling down properly is as important as warming up at the beginning of the workout. But most people often miss out on this vital step at the end because either they forget about it or are too tired. It does not matter if you exercise for 20 minutes or 2 hours, if you skip cooling down at the end of your workout routine, you will gain only half of the benefit of your workout routine and will put yourself in grave danger.

3/5

Why is cooling down essential?

Cooling down after a workout is as important as warming up. While warming up prepares your body for a rigorous workout, cooling down helps to bring your core temperature down and relax the muscles. When performing any exercise, your heartbeat starts beating faster and your body temperature also rises. Apart from that, your blood vessels dilate and your blood pressure spikes. If you stop immediately, you may pass out or feel dizzy. Reducing the intensity of the exercises slowly during the cool-down session helps to bring your body back to a normal state. It reduces the risk of injury and episodes of dizziness.

4/5

Eating the right food after the workout

Nourishing yourself is also crucial after your workout session. That's because only exercising won't help you achieve your fitness goal. Diet and exercising go hand-in-hand. For optimal health and fitness, you need to pay attention to both. Skipping any will make it difficult for you to reach your objective. Even when trying to shed kilos, you need to manage both things.

5/5

Why is eating right crucial?

After an intense workout session, our energy level depletes and muscle tears. To re-energise yourself and repair muscles, you need to eat healthy and nutritious food after finishing your workout. Studies suggest that eating protein-rich food within an hour helps to build muscles and also shed kilos. Have protein shake, eggs, oatmeal, fruits or nuts after workout for maximum benefits.
