From nosebleeds to bloating: 6 often overlooked early signs of cancer that should not be ignored

Cancer may at times start with mild symptoms that are not easy to notice or may be confused with less serious issues. Identifying them earlier is crucial as it may result in earlier diagnosis and improvement. Below are five simple and frequently ignored cancer signs one should never take lightly. Let us look at less often but serious signs of different types of cancers

2/8

Frequent nosebleeds

Occasional nosebleeds are something that most individuals have trouble with and are normally harmless. But frequent or recurring nosebleeds may be an indicator of blood-related cancers such as leukemia or lymphoma (blood cancer). Both of these cancers impair the blood cells, as well as bone marrow, which decreases the body's clotting ability and hence its capacity to prevent bleeding. If one has nosebleeds that are excessive or occur quite frequently, it is crucial to see a doctor.

3/8

Night sweats

It is normal to sweat at night but frequent, drenching night sweats that can wet clothes and bedding may be a sign of an underlying condition, including some cancers as well like lymphoma. Night sweats occur with other symptoms too like weight loss or fatigue, so be quick to inform a doctor about frequent night sweats.

4/8

Aching bones

Persistent bone pain or aching without any clear cause can often indicate an early warning sign of cancer affecting the bones or bone marrow. Including multiple myeloma and metastatic cancers. The pain is sharp and usually deep and constant if not relieved by rest. Take note of it as a warning sign of cancer. If one has a recurring bone pain, especially if accompanied by other symptoms like weakness or unexplained bruising, consult a medical health professional immediately.

5/8

Swollen lymph nodes

Our bodies are a complex web of nerves and tissues, like lymph nodes. Swollen or enlarged lymph nodes, particularly painless or persistent, may be an indication of infections or cancers like lymphoma. Inspect common regions like the neck, armpits or groin, if swelling persists or continues to increase consult a physician.

6/8

Red spots on skin

Red bumps on the skin are referred to as petechiae and may occur on the skin after a small blood break. The spots are usually innocent but may be a significant sign of blood cancer that influences the platelet level. In case one observes unusual red spots without an underlying cause (specific) or the spots do not disappear with time.

7/8

Bloating

Persistently feeling bloated and full is one of the most common early signs of ovarian cancer. And bloating accompanied by abdominal distension (visible swelling in your stomach) could be a red flag that there is a problem. Occasional bloating can be a sign of indigestion or food intolerances but if persistent, there might be an underlying issue that needs to be taken care of!

Disclaimer: These symptoms can also be an underlying sign of another health condition. Please consult a medical health professional before adopting any advice.

8/8

When to get medical assistance

If one experiences any of these signs and they last longer than a few weeks, it is important to see a healthcare provider. Early diagnosis can enhance treatment possibilities and results. Never be afraid to report new or unusual symptoms to physicians; we never know! Timely attention could prevent complications and lead to better long-term outcomes.

Disclaimer: These symptoms can occur due to other underlying issues as well.
