5 toilet flushing habits that are cringeworthy!

Considered as the germiest place, your toilet often gets the most attention when it comes to cleaning. You leave no surface or spot unscrubbed to make your toilet look squeaky clean.

While your toilet might look sparkling clean, your flushing habits might not be the best ones. We think flushing is just about pressing that flush button and you are done. That's not true. Here in this article, we tell you five common flushing mistakes that we all make.

2/5

Flushing the toilet with the lid open

Most of us flush the toilet while leaving the lid open and it seems completely normal. But this is not the right way, the toilet lid is there for a reason. You might get grossed out to hear this but the faecal matter and the urine from the toilet can actually fly up to six feet when you flush the toilet each time.

Thus, it is recommended to close the toilet lid every time you flush.

3/5

Not cleaning the flush button regularly

Sanitising the flush button is as important as washing your hands. We all touch the flush button with soiled hands after we are done with the job. Though your hands might not be visibly soiled, they still have germs and bacteria on them.

Thus, washing your hand after using the bathroom is a must and cleaning the flush button regularly is also recommended.

Did you know why there is a partition on the flush button?

The concept behind dividing the push button into two parts - big and small - is for saving water.

By pressing the smaller portion, less water is flushed, while using the bigger one flushes more water. You can use the smaller one when you pee to save water.

4/5

Not cleaning/changing the toilet scrubbing brush

Cleaning the toilet cleaning brush is equally important. The brush gets loaded with germs and bacteria after it does its job. Make sure to clean the brush with the cleaning agent and dry it properly before storing it.

Not doing so can make it the breeding ground for the bacteria that will go into your toilet next time you clean it, defeating the whole purpose of cleaning.

5/5

Using the wrong cleaning products

You might have a disinfectant that reads multipurpose. But this doesn't mean you should use it to clean your toilet as well. Not using the right products will not actually clean the toilet and may also cause some aesthetic damage.

Use only the products that clearly mention their purpose - toilet cleaning.
