5 warning signs of liver cirrhosis

Liver cirrhosis and its risk

Liver cirrhosis is a severe medical condition that occurs when there is permanent damage to the liver tissue, leading to scarring and impaired liver function. A chronic liver condition called liver cirrhosis is characterized by liver tissue damage and progressive scarring (fibrosis). The liver is a vital organ that processes nutrients and removes toxins from the circulation, among many other tasks. The liver loses its capacity when scar tissue takes the place of good liver tissue.

The following are five indicators of liver cirrhosis:

2/6

Jaundice:

Dr. Vishal Garg, Sr. Consultant, Gastroenterology, Apollo 24|7; Apollo Hospitals, New Delhi & Apollo Hospital, Sector- 26, Noida says, “A frequent symptom of liver cirrhosis is yellowing of the skin and eye whites. Bilirubin, a waste product from the destruction of red blood cells, builds up in the blood and produces the yellowish discoloration when the liver is unable to process it.”

3/6

Fatigue and weakness:

As liver function deteriorates, the body may find it difficult to carry out crucial metabolic tasks, which can cause fatigue, weakness, and an overall malaise.

4/6

Bloating and Pain in Abdomen (Ascites):

According to Dr. Garg, Cirrhosis may cause fluid to build up in the belly, resulting in bloating and pain in the abdomen. Ascites is a condition that can put pressure on other organs and result in pain.

5/6

Gastrointestinal Bleeding:

Liver cirrhosis can cause abnormal venous channels to open up, particularly in the lower esophagus (Esophageal Varices) which can cause vomiting of blood or blood in the stools. As the liver deteriorates, fewer blood-clotting proteins are produced, which can make bleeding both internally and externally simple to control.

6/6

Alterations in mental state (Hepatic Encephalopathy):

“When the liver isn't working properly, toxins ( Ammonia) that are typically filtered out of the body can accumulate in the bloodstream, causing mental changes like confusion, disorientation, and memory issues,” says Dr. Garg.

Liver cirrhosis is a severe disease that can result in complications such as liver failure, liver cancer, and even death. Treatment may include addressing the underlying cause of the illness, taking medications to control symptoms and complications, and, in some instances, undergoing a liver transplant.

Mr. health reporter, who I think to be mentally unstable, need to be aware that practically every nation in the globe has begun to treat it like any other seasonal illness that will be around for a very long time and won't pose any severe health risks. Hence, Mr. Post Doc in COVID, please stop instilling fear in the population for your own personal advantage.
