6 signs our body lacks necessary nutrients

How to know if our body needs more nutrients?

Ever wondered if the body is secretly trying to tell us something? Well, it is! Our bodies are incredibly smart, and when they don’t get enough of the right nutrients, they send out little warning signs. These signs might seem random—like brittle nails or twitchy eyes—but they’re actually clues that something is missing in our diet. Here are 6 signs that our body needs more nutrients and what we can do about them!

2/7

Brittle nails

If someone has a problem with breaking nails or strange ridges, the body might be craving protein or iron. Protein is essential for nail strength, and iron helps carry oxygen to the nail beds. Low iron levels can leave the nails weak and pale. Time to load up on eggs, spinach, nuts, and lean meats!

3/7

Twitching eyes or limbs

Ever had an annoying eyelid twitch that just won’t stop? Or random muscle spasms? That could be the body's way of saying, “Hey, I need more magnesium!” Magnesium is necessary for muscle and nerve function. Without enough of it, our muscles can act out with sudden twitches. Bananas, dark chocolate (yes, really!), and nuts are great sources to fix this.

4/7

Premature greying of hair

Spotting grey hairs earlier than expected can be a not-so-pleasant surprise for people - don’t panic—it might not just be genetics! A lack of vitamin B12 or copper can speed up greying. B12 keeps hair pigment strong, while copper helps produce melanin, which gives hair its natural colour. Fill the plate with dairy, eggs, shellfish, and whole grains to keep those strands looking youthful!

5/7

Clicking joints

If a person’s joints make that unsettling "click-click" sound when they move or sit, it might not be because of ageing. Our body might be asking for more vitamin D3 and calcium. These two work together to keep our bones strong and our joints well-lubricated. Get some sunshine (our best natural source of D3) and eat more dairy, fish, and leafy greens to keep those joints happy!

6/7

Easy bruising

If someone is ending up with bruises even from the lightest bump could mean the body is low on vitamin C or K1. Vitamin C helps in collagen production, which keeps our skin strong, while K1 is essential for blood clotting. Add more citrus fruits, bell peppers, and leafy greens to the diet!

7/7

Ever noticed painful cracks at the corners of our mouth that just won’t heal? That’s a sign of vitamin B deficiency, especially B2 (riboflavin) and B6. These vitamins help maintain healthy skin and prevent dryness. Boost your B vitamin levels with eggs, dairy, whole grains, and leafy greens!
