The air quality indoors is way more polluted than outdoor air

With the dip in the temperature, the air quality also slides down. Stare out of your window, and all you will see is dust and smoke. Staying indoor at this time seems a much better option than stepping outside. What many do not know is that the air quality indoors is way more polluted than outdoor air. The pollutants may not be visible but the microscopic particles can have an impact on your health. And now that we are spending more time indoors, it gets all the more important to improve our indoor air quality (IAQ). For your help, here we have listed 6 ways to keep the air inside your home clean.

2/7

Use aerosol free products

Instead of scented cleaning products, use aerosol free products. These unperfumed products with lower VOCs (volatile organic compounds) produce fewer pollutants and keep the air inside your home cleaner.

3/7

Clean your ducts and filters

Clean your duct and filters regularly to make sure you get filtered clean air. Dirty filters increase the level of pollutant inside the house. Check bathroom and kitchen vents and replace them if needed.

4/7

Turn on your kitchen vent when cooking

The maximum amount of air pollutants come through the kitchen. The gas stove produces harmful contaminants like carbon monoxide and nitrogen dioxide, which can be easily absorbed into your bloodstream. For your health, it is crucial to turn on your kitchen vents and allow the harmful air to move out.

5/7

Keep your rugs and carpet clean

Rugs and carpets are home to dust and dirt. The tiny dust particles get trapped in their fibre, which may be difficult to remove. Once a while, you need to make a little effort to remove and clean them properly to reduce the level of air pollution.

6/7

Invest in an air purifier

Indoor plants are good, but they cannot clean the air of your entire house. To make the air inside your home healthier to breathe, invest in a good air purifier. They help to safely remove surface bacteria, mould and several viruses like MRSA and E-coli from the air.

7/7

Get indoor plants

Indoor plants are natural air purifiers. They remove formaldehyde, benzene, and trichloroethane from the air and replace it with oxygen. Bamboo Palm, Chinese Evergreen, English Ivy, Ficus, Gerbera, are some common house plants you must buy for your home.
