Remedies to lower high blood pressure

Low blood pressure, also known as hypotension, can be caused by various factors such as dehydration, lack of nutrients, or underlying health conditions. It's important to note that if you consistently experience symptoms of low blood pressure, you should consult with a healthcare professional to determine the underlying cause and receive appropriate treatment. However, there are some home remedies that may help alleviate symptoms or prevent episodes of low blood pressure:

2/8

Licorice root or mulethi

One possible treatment for low blood pressure is licorice root. You can prepare mulethi tea by adding 1 medium sized stick of licorice root to a cup of boiling water. Let it infuse in the hot water for 5 minutes before straining and pouring into a cup. This remedy may help lower the blood pressure quickly.

3/8

Garlic

According to certain research, garlic may only slightly reduce blood pressure. Garlic may help lower blood pressure by as much as 11.2 mm Hg on both the systolic and diastolic levels. You can take it as a supplement or include it in your diet, but before taking it as a cure, speak with your doctor.

4/8

Stock up on Omega-3

Essential nutrients that play a major role in both controlling and preventing heart disease are omega-3 fatty acids. According to research, omega-3 fatty acids may be useful in lowering blood pressure. Walnuts, flaxseeds, and fatty fish (salmon, mackerel, and sardines) are examples of foods high in omega-3 fatty acids that may help decrease blood pressure while cutting back on triglycerides.

5/8

Eat small and low-carb meals

Large or high-carbohydrate and sugary meals can cause a sudden rise in blood pressure. Eating smaller, more frequent meals can help stabilise blood pressure. One must try to keep their plate as balanced as possible and include protein and fibre-rich food in their diet.

6/8

Limit your consumption of coffee

It's possible that your favourite cup of coffee is raising your blood pressure. One needs to quit coffee altogether if they have been struggling to bring their BP levels down. Although there is a complicated link between blood pressure and caffeine, some people may be more susceptible to its effects than others. Try cutting back on your coffee use and keep an eye on how it affects your blood pressure.

7/8

Reduce salt intake

Consuming a higher amount of salt can help raise blood pressure. However, it's essential to lower your salt consumption by following simple measures like not sprinkling salt over salad and in the dough for chapatis. One must consult with a healthcare provider before making significant changes to your salt intake, especially if you have other health conditions.

8/8

Avoid alcohol and increase physical activity

Regular physical activity helps improve blood circulation and can contribute to overall cardiovascular health. However, consult with your healthcare provider before starting a new exercise routine. Alcohol can cause blood pressure fluctuations further, so it's advisable to limit or avoid alcohol consumption. Always consult with your healthcare provider before trying new remedies or making significant changes to your diet or lifestyle, especially if you have underlying health conditions or are taking medications.
