Don't know when this nonsense of walking is the best exercise recommendation will end. Infact walking is pretty bad for knee health (reverse walking is better). It's time people start climbing stairs (think like people living in hilly/mountainous regions), it's benefitial for all without hurting the knee (climbing down is bad for knee). Moreover climbing stairs up will also work the large muscle groups of the leg around femur (quads, hamstrings etc)Read allPost comment
