Planning to travel? Do an immunity check before booking the tickets

The coronavirus pandemic has changed our lives completely. From the way we work to the way we travel, everything has changed. While we are getting back to our normal lives, we still need to be cautious as the fear of coronavirus is still hovering over us.

But travelling for work or personal engagements might still not be safe, it can wreak havoc on our immune system. But worry not, here are a few small steps you can take as a part of your routine for staying healthy.

Keeping our immunity up and tight has never been of such importance for all of us, but it is now. While travelling, we all wonder what steps to take to keep ourselves safe and healthy and away from the risk of coronavirus. After all, none of us wants to fall sick, while on a trip, even if it's a working one.

2/8

Travel immunity check

Spending time at the airport and railway stations can increase one's risk of catching infections. Following a healthy schedule while travelling is also hard amid busy schedules. All this is accompanied with unhealthy food and abnormal sleep patterns.

This increases the problems from backaches, headaches to low immunity, which are many issues faced by routine travellers. But the good news is, there are several ways to do a travel immunity check before you plan your next trip.

3/8

Healthy diet

Following a healthy diet is always a good idea, whether you plan to travel or not. While you can plan for a foreseen trip, there is hardly anything you can do about unforeseen travel plans, be it related to work or personal reasons. While on the go, you mostly rely on packaged foods, ready to eat stuff and fast food, which interferes with your immunity.

On top of it, if you follow an unhealthy diet as a part of your daily routine, you are not providing your body with enough nutrition, needed for a stronger immune system.

Make sure to nourish your immune system regularly by following a diet rich in micronutrients on a daily basis. Do not forget to pack some healthy food from home to have on the way. You can also have protein bars, fruits and dried fruits.

4/8

Stay hydrated

A hydrated body can prevent stomach infection and dehydration. Have a sufficient amount of water every day, especially during the summer season. Also, include water-based fruits and vegetables in your diet like cucumber, watermelon, musk melons and oranges. Make sure to stay hydrated while travelling and avoid alcohol and caffeine-based drinks.

5/8

Get adequate sleep

Getting enough sleep is of prime importance to maintain strong immunity. Lack of sleep can increase one's chances of falling sick. Try to get a good sleep a few days before the travel to make your trip a healthy, active and safe one.

To get a good night's sleep, avoid using smartphones and gadgets at night and reduce your intake of alcohol and caffeine intake.

6/8

Get moving and eat your vitamins

A regular workout routine and a healthy diet are directly proportional to good immunity. You can do some yoga, running, gymming, swimming, dancing or any other form of physical activity you like.

Have superfoods like berries, bananas, kiwi and lemon along with multivitamins to support the immune system.

7/8

Do not touch frequently touched surfaces

Even if you have to wash your hands from the public tap, make sure to sanitize your hands later. Avoid touching hand railings, doorknobs and armrests. Do not touch your face without sanitizing your hands. You can use a spray sanitiser to disinfect table tops, chairs, doorknobs and any other surface before touching while travelling.

8/8

Precautions

Wear your face mask and get vaccinated as and when your turn comes. Make sure to follow covid protocols even if you are fully vaccinated.
