What happens in Pneumonia infection?

Pneumonia is an infectious lung condition that causes the numerous, elastic air sacs that make up the lungs to become inflamed, which reduces the lungs' ability to function. The patient finds difficulty in breathing, coughs with phlegm or pus, and suffers from fever and chills.

2/6

Symptoms of Pneumonia

The symptoms can be mild to life threatening. They are:

  • Coughing that may cause mucus buildup
  • High fever
  • Headaches
  • Chills or heavy sweating
  • Shortness of breath while walking or physical movement or even without an activity
  • Loss of appetite
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Chest pain during coughing or breathing
  • Feeling of fatigue and tiredness
3/6

Pneumonia is brought on by

  • The most frequent cause of pneumonia is infection with bacteria, viruses, fungi, or parasites.
  • The infection spreads mostly through being in close contact to the infected person - by cough droplets when sneezing or coughing. The air sacs fill up with fluid or pus, causing a cough, difficulty breathing, chest pain that becomes worse with each breath, a high temperature, and trembling chills.
  • While antibiotics can heal the majority of individuals, the disease can be fatal in young children, the elderly (those over 65), and those with compromised immune systems.
4/6

Protection against pneumonia

Breastfeeding for at least the first six months of life provides protection against pneumonia beginning at birth. The youngster must consume high-quality food that is rich in the minerals and vitamins necessary for strong immunity and the ability to fight sickness.

5/6

Diet

Vitamin C strengthens the immune system, which aids in curing pneumonia. If you have a sore throat, be careful not to eat really sour oranges since this could make it worse. For a good dosage of vitamin C, you can also eat other citrus fruits like lemon, berries, and kiwi.

6/6

Prevention Techniques

Whether it's streptococcal, whooping cough, or measles pneumonia, there are certain immunizations that can aid in preventing the disease. You can also add routines like keeping clean air and water and regularly washing your hands.
