Take a chill pill!
The great Indian summer is here and life just revolves around the Celsius talk. There seems to be no running away from this scorching heat.
But there are ways to pep up your day and beat the heat this summer. Pick up that juicy water melon, add lemon to masala soda, or simply gorge on that succulent musk melon and indulge yourself to a treat of coolers and relish the stuff in a hammock during the evenings.
1x1 polls

Here is a list of things you can do to make the most of this season...
It’s the coolest
No other fruit acts as a perfect thirst quencher than watermelon. It is during summers that one gets to see a cornucopia of luscious red watermelons and green musk melons spread in heaps in the market. So why not pick up those and unleash the gourmet within by experimenting with yummy juices? Although watermelon can now be seen in the markets throughout the year, it is in summer that one gets to relish the fruit in its juicy best and it tastes even better. With almost 90 per cent water content, savouring watermelon is the coolest alternative.

Tango mango
A delectable spread of mangoes is awaiting you to experiment with the king of fruits. You can eat it raw, as ras (juice made from fresh ripe mangoes) or have it in desserts along with chocolates and ice cream. Slice a mango into pieces of different size and arrange it on the platter. The best way to relish the ripe Alphonso is to suck it as it lets you enjoy every bite of it. Nothing more can be better a cooler than a serving of chilled mangoes when the mercury is at its peak. Gift a box of mangoes to your loved ones and cast a spell on them.
Frozen fantasies
Chuski as we call it, is back in action. You can see ice candy outlets at almost every corner of the city. In case you thought golas came only in a few flavours, take a closer look. You have delicious concoctions topped with fruit chunks, cubes, chocolates, rabdi, tutti-fruiti, condensed milk and cherry. Flavours like rose, kachi keri(raw mango), kalakhatta, fresh fruit (orange, kiwi, mango, strawberry, chickoo, mulberry, pineapple) are extremely popular. Not just kids, but the elderly too relish these melting ice golas every night, post dinner. This apart, the gola joints act as meeting points for friends.
Creamy delight
Churned, natural or the regular ice creams, all are available throughout year. But the fun and the craving to eat it during summer is something different. Melting softies, huge sundaes—a medley of various flavours or scoop of an ice cream with toppings of cherry, chocolate chips, sauces, wafer biscuits, tutti fruiti and more can be experimented. Gelatos are also getting popular here in a big way. Sorbets and dots ice creams are also opted by lots of kids during summers. You can also try homemade, sugar free and vegetable ice creams too.
Juicy moments
From oranges, grapes, pineapple, sweet lime, pomegranate, to subtly crunchy watermelon, you can have chilled juice made from fresh and yummy fruits. Don’t forget to try the chilled lassi, lime water, masala chaas, cold coffee, mocktails which are available in abundance in the market in various flavours. To experiment and be different you can sip panna (raw mango drink) and jaljira in matka, sugar cane juice and cool coconut water. And don’t forget to try out some frozen desserts, iced tea, irresistible chocolate shakes, faloodas, fruit jellos and flavoured masala sodas. One can try hot rabadi on chilled golas, kulfi, thandai, pista lassi and cold vanilla or chocolate soufflé with hot chocolate.
So, make this summer as cool as possible as now you can chose from a wide array of fresh fruit options in different combos available to you.
