These natural remedies are effective

Summer is here and so is the season of mosquitoes. The warm weather and humid climate are always linked with the arrival of disease-causing mosquitoes. Whether you go outdoors or are relaxing indoors, the blood-sucking insect never leaves you alone. Even while going to bed, you might hear the buzzing sound near your ear, which can easily disturb your sleep.

Mosquitoes carry different kinds of diseases and there is no denying that their sting hurts. It can give your red bumps which are painful, itchy and can last for a few hours. If you are looking for something to get relief from the irritating itches then you can try some home remedy. These remedies are natural and are quite effective.

Ice

Apply some crushed ice on your affected area to reduce the swelling. Ice also numbs your skin which can provide instant relief from the pain and irritation. You can use a cool pack or put some crushed ice in a piece of cloth and put it on the affected area. Do not leave the ice directly on the skin for more than 5 minutes as it may damage the skin cells.

Honey

Honey is packed with anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties. It is very effective in treating different kinds of skin condition and can even be used for mosquito bites. Put a small amount of honey on the itchy bite to reduce the inflammation. Wash it with cold water after a while.

Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera is a common houseplant with multiple skin healing properties. Aloe Vera gel can have anti-inflammatory properties and helps in treating a wound, bruises and swelling. For the same reason, it can even be good for a bug bite. Cut open a small section of the plant and apply it directly on the affected area.

Baking Soda

Baking soda is used for multiple purposes and reducing the pain caused due to mosquito bite is one of them. The white powder neutralises the pH levels of the skin and helps in relieving the itchiness. Add a few drops of water in a teaspoon of baking soda to make a paste. Gently apply the paste on the affected area.

6/8

Basil

The holy basil, which is an important ingredient of Italian cuisine, also works effectively on mosquito bites. The green leaves of basil contain a compound called eugenol, which can cool down the irritation and give relief from irritation. Add a few basil leaves in a cup of water and boil it properly. Leave the mixture to cool down. Dip a piece of cotton into the liquid, and rub it gently on your bites.
