Not just fried food! Vascular surgeon warns of 6 common foods that raise heart attack risk
Surprisingly, it's not merely the indulgence of fried foods, rare treats, or typical greasy meals that pose a significant risk; it turns out that even seemingly benign staples and trendy packaged items can serve as gateways to arterial harm. The real threat emerges from the way these six food categories, which are widely beloved and commonly consumed across many diets, stealthily contribute to an increase in blood pressure, blood sugar levels, and inflammation. This relentless escalation can eventually lead your arteries to cry out for much-needed assistance. Let's explore what Dr. Kapadia says...
Processed Foods
Processed items like seekh kebabs, sausages, salami, and mutton curries are full of saturated fat and sodium. With time, these foods harden the arteries and provoke inflammation, acting as a main reason for heart problems. High saturated fat levels gradually lead to a buildup of cholesterol in the arteries, while too much sodium increases blood pressure, both of which contribute to arterial hardening and inflammation. What starts as an occasional indulgence can, over the years, turn into a major risk factor if not balanced with healthier choices.
Refined carbs & maida-based food
Sweetened drinks & packaged juicesSugar-loaded colas, energy drinks, canned fruit juices, and flavored lassis might sound refreshing, but they raise triglyceride levels and put additional pressure on your heart. Consuming these drinks daily has been related to the risk of sudden cardiac death as they interfere with heart rhythm and blood lipids. Opting for water, fresh fruit-infused drinks, or unsweetened beverages is a heart-healthier alternative to sugary drinks.
High salt in pickles and namkeenIndian meals are always full of pickles, 'papad', instant noodles, chips, and salty snacks, all loaded with sodium. High intake of salt retains water in your body and heightens blood pressure, inviting heart attacks and strokes. This is the risk which, for many, lies hidden in the taste of daily favorites.
Ultra-processed foods
A warning that can save lives

If this vascular surgeon knew about and began prescribing a whole plant based no oil diet shown by Dr Caldwell Esselstyn to completely prevent AND reverse heart disease he would quickly realize that he would no longer need to be a vascular surgeon as he would no longer have any patients who need such unnecessary surgeries.Read allPost comment
