8 differences between fake and genuine people

In a world that’s divided by many binaries, it is difficult to spot the right people from the fake. Today, everyone is always striving to climb up the ladder and it often gets difficult to know if someone else is trying to pull you down for their own motive. There are some who are always nice to you but are they really good at heart? There are many who don’t come across as even approachable but does this mean that are they also morally guarded? Appearances can be deceiving, so here’s how you can spot genuine people from fake.

2/9

Looking down on all / Considerate

Looking down on all / Considerate

Fake people: They are very selective about whom they talk to, about who deserves their attention, and who they may gain something out of. They usually avoid talking to people who are below them. So, if you spot people who are always flattering the ones in power, be wary.

Genuine people: They do not care if you are big or small, expecting a promotion or have been recently fired, they will talk to you with a smile, no matter what your position is.

3/9

Pleasing others / Self sufficiency

Pleasing others / Self sufficiency

Fake people: They always want to please other people in their lives. They think that they need to be in good books of everyone and will go to great lengths to please you.

Genuine people: They are comfortable however they are and will not go beyond a limit to please you. This is not because they do not care about you but because they are not seeking your friendship through any materialistic means.

4/9

Attention-seekers / Not caring about attention

Attention-seekers / Not caring about attention

Fake people: You may have come across many people who need others to notice them all the time. This is because they have a misplaced sense of self-importance. They want that side of theirs to be continuously boosted.

Genuine people: Genuine people do not bother about being noticed by others. They do everything for the love of it and respect having a space.

5/9

Bragging / Humility

Bragging / Humility

Fake people: They are braggers of the group. They will keep talking about things they did or are doing. They will inflate the most insignificant things and their role in that. They may even exaggerate to the extent of lying if that serves them a purpose.

Genuine people: They are very humble. You may not be able to tell even if they were given a Nobel prize the day before. This is because for them self-satisfaction comes before appreciation from others. They don’t like boasting about themselves to anyone.

6/9

Back stabbing / Straight forward

Back stabbing / Straight forward

Fake people: Fake people are mostly two-faced. They will say one thing on your face and another on your back. They love to gossip. They would never give you an honest opinion and won’t say bad things to your face.

Genuine people: You will know if a person is genuine when they give a feedback that proves to be honest. Just because you want to be told something is never a reason enough for them to say it to you. They are straight forward, honest and will say whatever there is to be said.

7/9

Words / Action

Words / Action

Fake people: They are people of words and no action. Their promises are hollow and they rarely stick to what they say, only when it serves them in any way.

Genuine people: They are hardworking and do whatever they say they will. There is no reason you should not believe them. They are promise-keepers.

8/9

Disallowing / Allowing themselves to be vulnerable

Disallowing / Allowing themselves to be vulnerable

Fake people: Fake people will never show you their vulnerable side. They do not want people to know that they have weaknesses.

Genuine people: Genuine people will never hide away their vulnerabilities. This world is a rough place and we all can get hurt at some point or another. They are okay if their imperfections are exposed.

9/9

Judgmental / Undiscriminating

Judgmental / Undiscriminating:

Fake people: Fake people are too easy about judging you on your outer appearance. They may constantly tell you about your flaws and why you need to change. They will not let you have your freedom of being without judged.

Genuine people: They will always respect you for what you are till it is not morally wrong in any way. They understand the importance of letting everyone be authentic. They let you enjoy your own unique experience without being judged for it.
