Are hair around your nipples normal?

To all those who think that having hair on nipples is uncommon, here’s some news flashing for you. It is absolutely natural, normal, common and nothing worth so much attention to have hair on your nipples. So, if the reader who asked this is a nipple-haired reader herself or if it is someone who is dating a nipple-haired partner, you gotta get low-key about this.

2/9

Why hair around nipple?

There are hair follicles in our breast and nipple area and if there’s a sudden growth of the black strand from any of those, it isn’t anything more special than hair on any other part of your body.

3/9

Hormonal ups and downs?

Hair on the nipples are caused by various reasons, which are only normal. It is caused by regular hormonal ups and downs a woman’s body goes through. These can include the phases of pregnancy and puberty.

4/9

PCOD?

In certain cases, hair around nipples can be a symptom of poly-cystic ovarian disease. But for this to be the case, you must also check yourself against other symptoms of the disease, such as irregular periods or acne.

6/9

Medication?

In certain cases, it can also be due to taking certain medication that triggers the growth.

7/9

How many women have nipple-whiskers?

All in all, it is common and science says that 30 per cent of women has them. However, we believe that the number is much higher because many women would not like to report having those nipple-whiskers.

8/9

Want to remove hair around nipples?

If you want to remove the hair around your nipples, you can. Of course, there’s no cause for you to remove them at all if you do not wish to. However, if you think it will make you feel better about your body, you may uproot them using a plucker, shave them off, get them waxed or simply trim with a scissors. If you want to get rid of them for longer, you also have the laser hair removal option but it is expensive and painful. However, choice is always yours.

9/9

Get over body-shaming

We are given a certain set of standards which are aesthetically modified for us to fit into and the problem begins thus. Women shouldn’t have hair anywhere it is unappealing to look at. We get them uprooted, waxed and threaded from our faces, arms and legs and every inch of mass that has the black strands sprouting. But the worse is when we are told if it is normal to have hair at a certain body part or not. Hair around nipples? Who has that? Body-shaming much. Get over it. (Images from Shutterstock.com)
