Visceral fat is hard to get rid of

‘Fat’ isn’t always a bad thing to have. The human body consists of six different types of fats, all of which are not undesirable. Beige fat, in fact, is needed to cut other fats that are detrimental to overall health. Visceral fat, however, is extremely dangerous for health and having too much of it in the body can cause long term consequences such as increased risks of cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, strokes and even cancer. While all of us are aware of the fact that this fat is difficult to lose, a sustainable approach towards weight loss and lifestyle changes can help cut it out considerably. Here are five small changes that will facilitate the process for you.

2/6

Increase your water intake

Now this may seem like an extremely cliché advice but drinking insufficient amounts of water will render all efforts nearly useless because of the vital role that water plays in the functioning of the body. Replacing sugary drinks with water can help cut calories considerably and helps one stay hydrated and mentally alert, which in turn facilitates overall well-being.

3/6

More protein

It is important to get enough protein even when you are trying to cut calories. Ensure that you don’t reduce the amount of protein that you are having as it helps build lean muscle mass and get rid of fat. Also, protein is good for the stomach as it helps one stay energetic and fuller for longer periods of time, thereby obviating the need to munch or snack very often.

4/6

Mocktails over cocktails

It is time to reconsider your decision of having a cocktail every time you visit a restaurant or go out with friends because at the end of the day, cocktails contain alcohol which is full of sugar and increases your chances of gaining belly fat. Also, cocktails are consumed more often, without realizing the fact that too much consumption of alcohol contributes to visceral fat.

5/6

Get sufficient sleep

Insufficient amounts of sleep can lead to a disturbance in the secretion of hormones that regulate appetite and help you feel full. Not getting enough sleep has been linked to increased risk of obesity and interference in weight loss attempts. Sleeping for a minimum of seven hours is a must for people of all age groups.

6/6

Count your macros, preferably through a digital medium

Specialized apps for counting macros have made it extremely easy for people to keep track of their macros. This method may not work for everyone because of the difference in people’s bodies and the way they work but in certain cases, it could prove to be extremely helpful as it may help maintain lean muscle and get rid of stubborn belly fat.
