As per a study carried by the University of Ottawa, there is no advantage or disadvantage of splitting calories among six meals rather than three.

Another study suggests that having three meals instead of six meals did not impact the calorie-burning or fat loss process. On the contrary, the researcher witnessed that having six meals can actually make people eat more than usual. There is no solid evidence that backs the claim that having meals frequently can be good for weight loss.

The most important point that all must remember when trying to lose weight is to have a realistic expectation. There are different approaches to lose weight, but not all might suit your lifestyle. When you opt to do something where you have to make a lot of modifications then the chances of failing are high. If you have a 9 to 5 job then it will be difficult to have a meal after every two to three hours. For weight loss, it is important to keep your calories count in check. It does not matter if you are having six or three meals in a day, divide your calories into equal parts and stick to it for effective weight loss.
