Minding what we eat is important for weight loss

Summer is here and all of us are ready for the beach! Or are we? Beach bodies, skin show and a lot of other factors make summers as tough to handle as winters. When it comes to weight loss, summers can facilitate weight gain as much as winters can. In order to keep ourselves hydrated, we tend to drink multiple things and not just water. Soft drinks, aerated drinks and mocktails become a favorite during this time of the year. Similarly, ice creams and frozen foods are on every one’s eating lists for summer. These drinks and foods can however lead to weight gain, considering the amounts of added sugar and preservatives that are found in them. You’d be extremely happy to know that there are foods that will help you battle the ever rising temperatures while also initiating and promoting weight loss. Here are five foods that you should eat in order to lose weight and beat the heat, both at once!

Watermelon

Watermelon,, like cucumber, is almost all water and the process of digestion of this fruit burns more calories than it actually adds. Having watermelon as a snack during the evenings can help sugar cravings and also aid weight loss.

Berries

Berries are great for the gut, especially blackberries and blueberries. Replete with soluble and insoluble fiber, both of these berries help regulate bowel action and thus aid weight loss. Adding berries to breakfast cereals or oatmeal can help with taste and health. In addition to this, you can also consume berries separately.

4/6

Grapefruit

Grapefruit is known to be great for digestive action because of the rich amounts of fiber present in it. The fiber also mixes with water to form a gel like substance that sits in the stomach for long periods of time, thus making one feel fuller for longer. Added to that, is its taste that is sweet but is also suitable for consumption for people suffering from diabetes. Grapefruit is a great choice for those who are trying to lose weight and manage summer time cravings.

5/6

Bottle gourd

Bottle gourd is low on calories and fat, and it also contains a lot of water. Low in saturated fat and cholesterol, it is a healthy option for consumption and is an extremely easy alternative for vegetable preparations for dinner because it is light on the stomach.

6/6

Cucumber

Cool, refreshing and almost all water, Cucumber is a great hydrating vegetable which can be consumed by itself or added to salads, sandwiches and any other preparations that one may wish to consume. Cucumber juice is another great drink that can be consumed in summers and helps weight loss by optimizing metabolism.
