How this young many achieved his weight loss goals

Anurag Saurav was devastated when his doctor told him that being overweight was taking a toll on his health. Not only did he experience gastric problems, but he also suffered from chronic body aches. Read on to find out about his journey…

Name: Anurag Saurav

Occupation: Software Engineer

Age: 27 years

Highest weight recorded: 96 kgs

Weight lost: 22 kgs

The duration took me to lose weight: 7 months

2/7

The turning point

During the lockdown, I faced several health issues, during which even my gastric level increased. The doctor recommended either I lose weight or get ready for a disaster and that was the day I decided to do whatever it takes.

3/7

Diet followed

My breakfast: Oats, Idli, brown bread, and peanut butter

My lunch: I have one chapati/rice, a portion of sabzi, a bowl of dal, and salad with chans

Snacks: Egg white (4 white and 1 whole)

My dinner: 1 chapati and a portion of sabzi

4/7

Workout regime

I do cardio for 30 minutes and combine it with 50 minutes of weight training.

Fitness secrets I learnt: If you want to achieve your dream body, you must remember that your diet has a really important role to play. Many people do not pay enough attention to their diet and instead, work out tirelessly. Being regular in the workout and in your diet, and following the 21-day rule, really worked for me.

How do I stay motivated?

I used to capture my picture and video every week to keep a track of my transformation. I also started making friends in the gym, which not only helped me socialize, but also made me excited about going to the gym and meeting them the next day.

How do you ensure you don’t lose focus?: I kept my 96 kg weight picture with the recent one and thought if I skip today, I will gain that weight again.

6/7

What’s the most difficult part of being overweight?

When I weighed a massive 96 kgs, I had lots of health issues like gastric problems, and body aches, I felt that I was losing myself.

What was the lowest point for you? My weight was stuck at 81 kg for 2 months. It made me think that I was doing something wrong. I even changed my workout but nothing worked out. It was then that I read somewhere that our weight loss is not linear so I followed the same thing for 3 months.

What shape do you see yourself in 3 years down the line?: I want to achieve a athletic body and a body fat of 11-15%

7/7

What are the lifestyle changes you made?

No Junk, No sugar, No carbonated drinks.

Lessons learned from weight loss: Weight gain is really easy but in weight loss, you have to give up everything. One of my favorite quotes: “If you want something you’ve never had, you must be willing to do something you’ve never done.”
