5 iconic dad-daughter moments from Stranger Things between David Harbour and Millie Bobby Brown

As the upside-down elements start to crawl across the skin, a few chosen ones must fight, not just survive, through the phases. While the teenage gang in ‘Stranger Things’ had a tumultuous journey, one of the purest connections that blossomed into a father-daughter relationship throughout the seasons has to be between Eleven and Jim Hopper. The similarities struck hard between the characters, as they both became their ‘one person’ who saved each other from becoming withered, leaning on as Hawkins came closer to being destroyed. So, here are the 5 iconic moments from Stranger Things between David Harbour and Millie Bobby Brown.

Letter to Eleven

The third season finale left on a bittersweet note, where Eleven read the ‘heart-to-heart’ speech written by Hawkins’ favorite cop. Marking one of the most vulnerable moments in the series, Joyce Byers finds a letter in the box after three months of apparent death. As Millie Bobby Brown’s character reads the words, she finds out how Hopper was heartbroken after thinking about Eleven getting distant from him. “But I know you're getting older, growing, changing. And, I guess, if I'm being really honest, that's what scares me. I don't want things to change. So I think maybe that's why I came in here, to try and stop that change. To turn back the clock,” he wrote on the paper, reflecting and hoping on his life. Certainly, Eleven (and the fans) had tears in their eyes.

'Keep your door open three inches!'

The father-daughter relationship was more than a bunch of Eggos and peas between David Harbour’s character and Eleven. While they dealt with issues more than seemingly mundane, ‘keep the door open three inches’ humorously added a human emotion into the supernatural mix. As Eleven and Mike were borderline obsessed with each other and couldn’t keep their hands off, the cop established ground rules in the house, stemming from a heart of concern. The teenagers shrugged off as though they were reading mere comics, but the moment has been nothing less than iconic. In fact, it has been overtly talked about in the interviews and also on social media by the fans.

‘You did good, kid; You did so good'

All along the series, Eleven has been using her superpowers to save the city and her beloved. After an exhausting hustle of closing the gates of the upside down in the lab, Jim Hopper hugs the little teenager and waives compliments of assurance. She falls into his arms, breaking down in relief. “You did good, kid. You did so good,” marks one of the iconic moments between the duo, signifying the relentless support and hope.

5/6

Eggos and Comfort

Eleven and Hopper were the two strangers who were in severe need of comfort and people they could depend on. In one of the initial moments in the second season, the duo can be seen discussing their near-future plans with steady communication. Suggesting that a simple dinner affects a lot of relationships, this marked the time when they overcame the hesitation. Sharing the meal of Eggos, Eleven and Hopper talked about Halloween and compromises, as they smiled through the entire scene.

6/6

Hopper opens up about his daughter

The emotionally distant Hopper gradually matured over the seasons and talked about ‘feelings,’ while openly communicating without any doubts or hesitation. However, the trauma revolved around his daughter, Sara, who died from leukemia due to his involvement with toxic chemicals. In one of the wholesome and sombre moments, he opened up about the lost daughter to Eleven, expressing his concern that the black hole might take her away as well. Overcoming the boundaries of vulnerability, he said, “The black hole. It got her. And, somehow, I've just been scared, you know. I've just been scared that it would take you, too.”
