Baby food to start with

Babies are a blessing and parenting this blessing takes a lot of effort. The most important part of nurturing a baby is its nutrition check. Keeping the right check on the baby’s diet profile is very important. Keeping an eye on certain food allergies, likes, and dislikes in the baby’s food habits is crucially important to monitor if the right nutrient is being provided at the right time and amount or not. Let’s see what should be the baby food chart for your 6-12 months old.

2/6

Cereals, Grains & Pulses:

Dr. Atchara V, Founder of Bump2cradle and Child development consultant says, “For 6-8 months old some nutritious options are oats, Barley, rice, Lentils, black, red, and pinto beans. But there is a slight add-on in the nutrition from 8-10 months old ones like millet, pasta, amaranth, buckwheat, flax seeds, and sesame. And when the baby enters into the 10–12-month phase he/she can be more liberal and have variety in the cereals, grain, and pulses category as the baby is digestively stronger than before.”

3/6

Vegetables:

Peas, Green Beans, Potatoes, carrots, and acorn squash are some classic options for the 6-8 months old. When it comes to 8-10 months the baby should be fed with cauliflower, beetroot, eggplant, onions, mushrooms, and broccoli. Eventually, vegetable options in 10-12 months ideally corn, spinach, cucumber, and tomatoes could be incorporated into the baby’s diet.

4/6

Fruits:

“In fruits, the 6-8-month-old can have Mangoes, peaches, plums, and apricots. The 8-10 month old ones can enjoy melon, blueberries, cherries, figs, grapes, kiwi, plum, cranberries, and dates. Finally, the fruit options added to 10-12 months old are the citrus fruits along with the rest,” says Dr. Atchara.

5/6

Dairy:

6-8-month-old babies are recommended to have yoghurt of plain whole milk and breast milk. The 8-10-month-old ones can have cottage cheese. With that 10-12 months old can have whole cow milk and breast milk.

6/6

Protein:

According to Dr. Atchara, Turkey, Tofu, and chicken can be added to the diet for 6-8 months old. Legumes, egg yolk, ham, and fish now can be added for the baby who attains the 8–10-month age group. The babies 10-12 months old age can have whole eggs and fully cooked meat.
