Educational qualifications of the UK Royals

The British royal family holds a prominent role in the United Kingdom's cultural and historical landscape. ​Prince Philip​



Prince Philip attended Cheam Preparatory School, Surrey in 1928 and spent a year at Salem School in Germany, which was run by famous educationalist, Kurt Hahn. He also attended the Gordonstoun School in Morayshire where he became Head of the School and Captain of Hockey and Cricket.

​Queen Elizabeth​


Queen Elizabeth did not receive any formal education and received tution from her father. As per reports, the Queen's father did not have a liking for school education. However, the Queen had an incredible appetite for learning and had a very sharp memory. She was also educated in religion by the Archbishop of Canterbury. "Princess Elizabeth also studied art and music, learned to ride horses and became a strong swimmer. She enrolled as a Girl Guide when she was eleven, later becoming a Sea Ranger. And she won the Children's Challenge Shield at London's Bath Club when she was thirteen," the Royal family's official website says.

​King Charles III​


King Charles, was educated at Gordonstoun school in Moray, Scotland. He also briefly attended Hill House School and Cheam School. He was enrolled in Trinity College, Cambridge in 1967. He was the first in the British royal family to have obtained a degree.

​Princess Diana​


Diana's schooling was done at Riddlesworth Hall at Diss, Norfolk, and then in 1974 she was as a boarder to West Heath, near Sevenoaks, Kent. She has also studied at the Institut Alpin Videmanette in Rougemont, Switzerland. After moving to London, she worked as a kindergarten teacher at the Young England School in Pimlico. She married The Prince of Wales at St Paul's Cathedral in London on 29 July 1981.

Kate Middleton studied at the University of St Andrews and obtained a degree in the subject history of art. Before her marriage to Prince William, Kate worked at a clothing chain Jigsaw. She was also a part of the family's party planning business.

Prince William studied at the prestigious Eton College in 1995. He achieved an A in Geography, a B in Art and a C in Biology which helped him to secure admission at St Andrews University in Scotland. He holds a degree in the history of Arts. He met Kate Middleton while studying at St Andrews.

​Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex​


Prince Harry went to study at Eton College. As per reports, he got a B in Art and a D in Geography in his A-Levels. He was exceptionally talented in non-academics like rugby, cricket and polo and was also a member of the Combined Cadet Force and was House Captain of Games. He finished his school in 2003.

​Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex​



Meghan Markle studied theatre and international studies at Northwestern University. Prior to that she graduated from Immaculate Heart High School, an all-girls Roman Catholic school, in 1999. She married Prince Harry in 2018.
