Thought of the Day: “Today’s patience becomes tomorrow’s strength”
In a world where speed and quick success are rewarded, the virtue of patience seems to be underrated. But the quality of patience remains the most potent thing one can ever acquire in a lifetime. Today’s patience becomes tomorrow’s strength, standing as a befitting realisation that the virtue of patience to remain unaffected by circumstances develops the strength of character. Whether it be at the level of parenting, education, the corporate world, or individual development, patience acts as a tool that helps one face tough times by remaining clear in one’s thoughts.
Building patience can create resilience
Practising patience teaches us control of our emotions. We do not always respond or react. Life situations test us. But remaining patient and composed helps us think. Slowly, this control of our emotions translates into strength. Those children and individuals who develop patience in their lives are in a much better position to deal with failures and criticisms in their lives. Something that we feel is "waiting" in our lives will soon become a source of strength in our lives.
Growth requires time, not pressure
Real progression never happens overnight. Achieving a skill, enhancing grades, or developing relationships cannot be accomplished overnight. Patience can teach one to appreciate the process and avoid aiming to arrive at a certain outcome through speedy means. When one accepts that positive progression will take time, they will avoid unnecessarily stressing. Of course, patience will turn out to be a virtue that will boost one’s perseverance.
Patience strengthens decision-making
Impulsive behaviour generates regrets. This virtue, like patience, promotes reflection and reflection brings good and calculated judgments and actions. This understanding helps one understand a situation and act accordingly by waiting and reflecting on the matter. Through experience and through the years, it helps develop a good ability to wait and think in order to face all kinds of problems in life.
Teaching patience shapes future strength
When children see patience exhibited by parents within the home, they learn the strength of calmness. Dealing with Temper Tantrums, errors, or failures in understanding teaches children emotional security. Lessons are taken through to adulthood by children when they are taught patience, as it plants seeds of self-control and preparation for the facing of pressures when they are adults.
Quiet effort creates lasting power
"Patience may not reward you instantly, but it provides a foundation upon which to develop strength. Every second of calm, patient resolve adds to a deeper confidence in self. And this "invisible work," this "behind-the-scenes" toil, will translate ultimately into the strength to weather any storms the world may have to offer." This patience "will truly become tomorrow's strength—steady, sound, and very empowering."
