Teenagers in today’s digital world have to face various distractions, which can easily impact their concentration, productivity, and study habits. Experts have stated that a neat, organized, and distraction-free study table is essential to improve concentration, memory, and the efficiency of the learning process. The study environment is of great importance to a teenager's academic performance and mental clarity. While most parents stress the importance of study time, they overlook that the study space also plays an essential role in the effectiveness of the teenager's studying process. Removing a few things from the teenager's study table can greatly impact their concentration and productivity. Here are five things that should never be on a teenager's study table.

Mobile phone

The most common distraction for teenagers while studying is the mobile phone. The various notifications received on the mobile phone through social media, messages, games, and videos can easily disrupt the concentration of the teenager and reduce the efficiency of the studying process. Even the presence of the mobile phone on the study table can impact the mind of the teenager as the mind is programmed to expect the receipt of the notification. Experts have suggested that the mobile phone should be kept away while studying to improve the concentration and efficiency of the teenager and enhance the memory retention of the teenager.

Junk food and sugary snacks




Having junk food such as chips, chocolates, and cold drinks on the study table is not healthy and can also be distracting. Teenagers might eat while studying, and this might reduce their concentration as well as their health. Instead, parents can keep healthy snacks such as fruits and water near the study table to increase concentration and keep the teenagers active and alert.

Teenagers might keep too many stationery items such as pens, pencils, markers, sticky notes, and more on the study table. This might reduce their concentration and also make the study table messy. A messy mind is not able to concentrate. Experts have suggested that a clean and organized study area is essential for improving concentration and productivity. Only necessary items such as books and pens should be kept on the study table.

Gaming devices such as gaming consoles, gaming controllers, and handheld gaming devices should not be kept on the study table. Seeing gaming devices might tempt the teenager to play games more and reduce the time for studying. This might reduce the concentration of the teenager. Keeping gaming devices in another room or in a cupboard might improve the study habits of teenagers.

Teenagers might keep negative notes such as “Study or fail,” “No phone till exams,” and more on the study table. This might increase stress, anxiety, and fear in the mind of the teenager. Experts have suggested that positive thoughts and quotes should be kept on the study table instead of negative reminders. A positive study area is essential for improving the confidence of teenagers while studying.
