5 sexual problems couples face but never talk about

This column has been written by Ayurveda expert Vaidya Shakuntala Devi

Sex is an integral part of life. It is, in fact, the key to reproducing life and keeping your lineage alive. However, much like any other body part, sometimes, our sex organs may not function the way we’d want them to. This could lead to embarrassment and shame, which is why many couples face many sexual problems in the bedroom but rarely talk about them. Let’s discuss some of the most common problems and their solutions in Ayurveda.

2/6

Male Infertility

The primary cause of male infertility is low sperm count or low motility, due to which they face problems in conceiving a child. It is a problem that affects a significant percentage of the male population but those who suffer from it, rarely talk about it.

However, Ayurveda offers a simple DIY solution to this. Mix equal quantities of ashwagandha powder, shatavari powder, white musli powder, black musli powder, kauch seed powder, and Amla powder. Take 10 gm of this mixture with milk every night. You will soon begin to see the benefits.

3/6

Premature ejaculation

Premature ejaculation is a problem that troubles many men. This makes them feel embarrassed and even hurts their ego. According to ayurveda, this type of problem occurs in men who have high heat (ushnata) in their bodies. Therefore, to cure this disease, we recommend a few dietary changes, which involve refraining from consuming sea salt, tea, coffee, and spicy foods, as these kinds of foods increase ushnata in the body, which is the very cause of the problem.

Instead, eat yogurt, pudina and dhaniya chutney to reduce ushnata. Aside from these dietary changes, one can take 20 ml of Ushirasav in the morning and 20 ml in the evening with equal parts water after 15 minutes of having food. Take two tablets of both chandraprabha vati, gokshuradi guggul with water after 30 minutes of having food.

4/6

Lack of libido

Lack of libido or sex drive is a common problem among both men and women and its ayurvedic remedy is also almost identical for both genders. Ayurveda attributes this problem to two major reasons.

  1. Stress, anxiety, and a hectic lifestyle.
  2. Physical weakness

In the first case, you must take 2 gm of Brahmi churna in the morning and 2 gm in the evening with milk on an empty stomach. In the second case, they should take 1 teaspoon triphala ghrita with milk at bedtime. They can also take 5 gm of shatavari powder with milk at night along with 2 tablets of chandraprabha vati.

They should also take 20 ml of ashwagandharishta in the morning and 20 ml in the evening after 20 minutes of having food. These remedies are the same for both men and women and both can benefit from them.

5/6

Female infertility

Infertility among women is a common problem but it can be treated with the magical medicine known as 'shatavri'. Besides boosting fertility, it has also proven effective in reducing psychological and physical stressors that can otherwise affect female reproductive health.

Women who are struggling with infertility can start their treatment by consuming 2 shatavari capsules with hot, spiced milk every day.

6/6

Female sexual dysfunction

Gokshura is an ayurvedic remedy that has succeeded in treating sexual dysfunction among women. In a recent study published by DARU Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, women recorded improved lubrication, arousal, sexual desire, and satisfaction by consuming this herb for only 4 weeks.

Women who are facing any of the above-mentioned problems can consume between ¼ to ½ teaspoon of gokshura churna with honey or milk twice a day.

It should be noted, however, that while taking any of these remedies one must follow all the necessary precautions and avoid eating foods that raise ushnata (heat) in the body.

All problems have a solution even if they are backed by different remedies. Discuss these issues with someone you trust in case the remedies do not work for you. Take second opinions and also try therapy so that your mental stress is taken care of.
