Brutal truths people in healthy relationships won't tell you

All couples should know about these parameters

It is not all that meets the eye. Craving for a relationship that is beautiful, trustworthy and loyal is understandable but not many know or realise what goes into making a relationship successful. There are constant fights, arguments and an insane amount of forgiveness that involves a healthy and successful relationship. But these are truths no one will slam on anyone’s face. Let’s take a look at them.

2/7

Your ego is constantly going to get hurt

In order to retain a successful relationship, your ego is going to get hurt constantly. Sometimes, you will fight, listen and move on and that is going to hurt your ego terribly. But that’s when you have to make the hard decision of whether you want your relationship to last or crumble because you want to keep yourself first.

3/7

It’s never 50-50

There is never a perfect balance in a relationship. There will be times when you have to give more effort into the relationship. You may feel like your partner isn’t giving their all, but it is quite normal to think so. But remember, your partner may also feel the same sometimes.

4/7

Your partner won’t be able to read your mind

Nobody can read your mind. You have to communicate your needs and wants to your partner and vice versa. Expecting each other to magically know what you both are thinking is unrealistic. Communication is the KEY.

5/7

Fighting is honestly…healthy

Understand this from a mature perspective: unless you both put your points forward, either by talking or fighting, you and your partner won’t be able to vent out or communicate your feelings to each other. Fighting is actually very healthy for a relationship to last because if you both stop talking to each other, even while fighting, just to avoid a scene, you both are unintentionally drifting away from each other.

6/7

Changing your partner is simply toxic

Driving your partner to change according to your ways is inviting clashes, guilt and blame game in the marriage. Why should your partner change according to your whims? You should be able to love your partner the way they are. Unless they have a toxic trait or attitude, you shouldn’t focus on changing your partner.

7/7

Focusing on the good things can be difficult

It may not always be easy to see the positive aspect of things, but supporting and standing beside your partner is the main way to sustain healthy relationships.
