Malaika Arora and Nora Fatehi discuss why women are pitted against each other: "Why our society divides women"

Do you feel you have rivalry with another woman?

If this has crossed your mind, then ask yourself these questions:

  • Do you judge women for choices you wouldn’t make?
  • Do you criticise women for mistakes but let go of the same ones if men do those?
  • Do you compete with your female coworkers or acquaintances more?

If you find yourself doing these, then this sense of rivalry and competition is not healthy but indeed very toxic. In a world, where women are constantly facing wrath, being a woman and bringing another woman down is unfair and unsupportive.

Check out here what they had to say!

Women are pitted against each other all the time. The constant competition between women can be deceitful, rude and aggressive. Women may behave this way when they see potential competitors trying to steal their thunder. This may cause women to bring each other down. Not only is this unhealthy, but it is pretty unsupportive given the fact that the world already diminishes and underestimates the power of women. In a recent episode of ‘Moving In With Malaika,’ Nora Fatehi and Malaika Arora discuss how they are constantly pitted against each other. Scroll down to read more.

“This kind of conversation is disrespectful”

During this episode, Nora admitted that speculations about the rivalry between her and Malaika is particularly disrespectful. Both are spectacular dancers and performers on the screen and have even been on several reality shows together. Nora went on to say how Malaika had been a part of the growing legacy of Bollywood and how she could not do the things Malaika has done. She also felt that it’s quite disrespectful for them to be compared together because it takes away the things from Nora that she has been working hard for, in Bollywood.

Comparison of identities

When two popular women are brought together on a show, who have similar roles, people automatically look to see them pitted against each other. This comparison of identities can ‘water down’ what they are actually doing and working hard to achieve, according to Nora.

Malaika’s take on the comparison

Malaika even admitted that she feels disappointed at times when someone else gets the job she could have done. “There will be someone out there who’s prettier and younger and you have to deal with that.” She also said that everyone tries to pit them against each other and put them on the show.
