Big fat Indian weddings

While some people prefer keeping their weddings low-key, in the presence of only close family and friends, others like to make it an extravagant affair. From Isha Ambani and Anand Piramal to Shristi Mittal and Gulraj Behl, here we list down some of the most expensive Indian weddings that are etched in people's memories even today. Isha Ambani and Anand Piramal

India's richest person, Mukesh Ambani's only daughter Isha Ambani married business man Anand Piramal in a grand wedding on December 12, 2018 in Mumbai. As per reports, Isha wore a beautiful lehenga for her big day which costed INR 90 crore-- which makes if the most expensive lehenga in the world! Her wedding attire is on display at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC). Meanwhile, each of her wedding invitation was worth INR 3 lakh. Each wedding invitation card was given in a Dolce and Gabbana box which was adorned with pink and gold lace and chains that were detachable so that they could be worn as jewellery. Overall, Isha and Anand's wedding costed a whopping INR 700 crores!

Sushanto Roy-Richa Ahuja and Seemanto Roy-Chantini Toor

The late Sahara Group Chief Subrata Roy's sons', Sushanto and Seemanto Roy's, double wedding in 2004 was one of the most expensive weddings in India. Their wedding costed over INR 550 crore and over 11,000 guests were invited for the grand wedding which was held in Lucknow. Guests from across the world were flown down to Lucknow in private jets for the four days festivities. While Sushanto married Richa Ahuja, Seemanto got married to Chantini Toor. As per reports, during the festivities the wedding of 101 underprivileged girls was also organised by Subrata Roy and he also fed more than 15,000 poor people.

Brahmani Reddy and Rajiv Reddy

Former politician and mining baron Gali Janardhana Reddy’s only daughter, Brahmani Reddy's wedding to Rajeev Reddy in 2016 costed a whopping INR 500 crores. Rajeev Reddy is the son of Vikram Dev Reddy, a Hyderabad-based business tycoon. The grand wedding celebrations were held over a period of five-days at the Bangalore Palace and it was attended by roughly 50,000 guests!

Shristi Mittal and Gulraj Behl

Pramod Mittal's daughter Shristi Mittal's wedding to investment banker Gulraj Behl in 2013 costed INR 500 crores! The three-day extravagant Indian wedding took place in Barcelona. Over 200 butlers and cooks were flown to Spain from India and Thailand for the wedding, while the culinary spread was done by Michelin-star chef Sergi Arola. Pramod Mittal is steel tycoon Lakshmi Mittal's younger brother.

Sanjay Hinduja and Anu Mahtani

Businessman Sanjay Hinduja and Anu Mahtani's seven-day grand wedding in Udaipur costed INR 140 crores. It was attended by the whos who of the entertainment, business, and political circles in the country. Over 200 chartered planes were hired for the guests who landed in Udaipur, while BMW cars with a private chauffeur were hired for the guests. Not just this, the glamourous wedding featured performances by Jennifer Lopez and singer Nicole Scherzinger. Anu Mahtani wore a stunning Tarun Tahiliani lehenga for her wedding.

Vanisha Mittal and Amit Bhatia

Steel tycoon Lakshmi Mittal's daughter, Vanisha Mittal married to Amit Bhatia in an extravagant ceremony in 2004. Their engagement ceremony was held at the Palace of Versailles in Paris, while their grand wedding took place at Chateau Veaux le Vicomte, near Paris. Some of the highlights of their wedding included actress Kylie Minogue's performance, and a firework display at the Eiffle Tower! Their wedding costed roughly INR 550 crores! However, the couple parted their ways in 2013.
