First meeting Rihanna and A$AP Rocky first crossed paths in 2012, during rehearsals for a performance at the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards. Their chemistry sparked rumours as Rocky cupped Rihanna’s backside onstage, which she says didn’t bother her. “My team was worried that I wanted to have his head on a mantle,” Rihanna told Interview magazine in April 2024.
The duo starts dating In 2019, Rihanna started dating A$AP Rocky. In the same Interview, the superstar confirmed that she and Rocky started stealing each other’s fashion choices before they started dating, which is about 7 years after meeting. “I would wear his sh*t, he would show up to my launches. But it wasn’t until the end of 2019 [that we got together] … We’ve known each other for a long time. I’ve seen him in relationships. He’s seen me in relationships. We’ve seen each other outside of relationships. We knew what we’re capable of, and the trouble that we could bring to each other’s lives. We can make or break each other’s hearts. And so, we started dating with a lot of caution … I just let whatever was supposed to happen, happen. It was just, ‘This is a flower. It’s either going to die or blossom. But I’m going to let it decide itself,’” she said.
A road trip together In 2020, the couple went on a road trip. Talking to Vogue in May 2022, Rihanna spoke about the nights of outdoor grilling, the tie-dye sessions, and everything fun she did with A$AP Rocky from their Los Angeles to New York trip. “I cooked our food on this little janky grill I bought from Walmart. I still have it, too. It works like nobody’s business. I love the simple things but also the grand adventures.
There’s no pretentious my-brand-your-brand bullshit, it’s just us living. I just feel like I can do any part of life by his side,” she recalled.
A$AP Rocky gushes about Rihanna In 2021, A$AP Rocky told GQ, “I think when you know, you know. She’s the One.” He also went on to add that he was already looking forward to starting a family someday. “Nah, but like, I think I’d be an incredible, remarkably, overall amazing dad,” he said.
The epic pregnancy revealNobody does pregnancy fashion as chic as Rihanna. In 2022, Rihanna made heads turn as she got photographed out in New York City, flaunting her baby bump wearing a long pink jacket. The half-unbuttoned jacket reveal her growing bump and she adorned a gold cross with colorful jewels to accentuate her mama bump. The couple later welcomed their first child, RZA Athelston Mayers.
Baby No. 2In 2023, during the Super Bowl Halftime, Rihanna revealed her baby bump, while wearing a red ensemble. They welcomed their second son, Riot Rose Mayers IN 2023.
Speaking about her baby daddy, she said, “I loved him differently as a dad. He’s an incredible, patient, loving father, and my kids are obsessed with him."
