What makes a person attractive?

If you thought it’s money, looks, good humour or bedroom skills that make someone attractive, then be prepared to get surprised. A recent study has pointed out a unique trait that can make you more appealing and do wonders to your love life! What is this trait? Read on…

2/9

The study

More than 6,000 singles from across 11 countries were asked the trait they find most attractive in a person. The study was done by EliteSingles (a dating site) and Babbel (a language learning app), and the finding proved that brain beats beauty!

3/9

And the trait is…

Surprisingly, speaking more than one language makes you super attractive! In fact, 75 per cent of the participants confessed that someone who speaks different languages is certainly appealing to them.

4/9

Language or six-pack abs?

The study indicated that one’s intelligence mattered more than looks. How? Well, a whopping 93 per cent of the participants expressed that they would prefer dating a multilingual person than someone with six-pack abs.

5/9

But why?

On being asked the reason behind this attraction for multilingualism, 39 per cent people shared it was because of their own interest in different cultures. 16 per cent were attracted to the ‘mystery of another language’, 15 per cent liked the sound of another language and 14 per cent see this as a sign of intelligence.

6/9

Which language makes you the most attractive?

It seems learning a few specific languages can give you an edge over others. Interestingly, French bagged the top spot on the list of most-attractive languages and was followed by Italian and Spanish.

8/9

What about the accent?

Well, it’s not just the language. A person’s accent makes him or her charming as well. As per the study, people who can converse in French, Irish and Italian accents have an upper hand in the dating game. Really?

9/9

Does it make sense?

Well, we live in a global society and knowing other language (or languages) apart from your mother tongue surely boosts your communication skills. But does it improve your love life? What is your take on this study? Will you prefer to date someone who can speak more than one language or there is another trait that instantly makes you feel weak in the knees?
