Juggy Sandhu adds festive energy to Mumbai’s Lohri celebration at Gurudwara, 4 Bungalows
Lohri celebration marked 24 years of cultural legacy at Gurudwara 4 Bungalows, Andheri, as over 2,000 people from diverse communities came together to celebrate the festival with devotion and joy. What began in 2002 as a small community initiative was envisioned by Late S. Sardar Singh Suri Ji, then President of the Gurudwara, to create a “home away from home” for the Punjabi community in Mumbai. The tradition is now being carried forward by his son, S. Jaspal Singh Suri Ji, the current President, under whose leadership the event has grown while preserving its spiritual and cultural essence. Over the years, the celebration has evolved into a landmark cultural gathering, welcoming people from all backgrounds. Reflecting Sikh values of equality and seva, prasad was distributed to all, including traditional Lohri offerings such as rewari and gajak, along with a community meal.
The festivities featured a traditional Lohri bonfire, fireworks, energetic bhangra, and a special performance by Juggy Sandhu. Speaking about the significance of the festival, S. Jaspal Singh Suri Ji said, “Lohri celebrates gratitude, togetherness, and hope. It marks the end of winter and the joy of a new harvest. My father started this initiative to keep our traditions alive in a fast-paced city like Mumbai, and seeing thousands come together today is the true success of that vision.”
