There are only 4 American states that begin with the letter 'W', and they hide some of the world's most iconic wonders

While the U.S. is home to 50 states, there are only four that begin with the letter "W." However, these states are home to some of the greatest and most spectacular wonders in America offering a unique travel experience to visitors. From volcanic peaks to rainforests and geothermal wonders, these states are blessed with an incredible landscape. These states are Washington D.C., West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming. Let’s take a closer look at what makes each of these states a must visit for travellers.

2/5

Washington D.C.

Washington is the evergreen wonderland of the U.S. Set in the Pacific Northwest, the state is noted for its dark forests, snow-capped mountains scenery, coffee, and thriving technology industry. The place is named after George Washington, the first President of the United States.

Most international tourists know Washington for Seattle which is famous for Pike Place Market, Mount Rainier National Park, and Olympic National Park. The best time to explore the state is from June to September.

3/5

West Virginia

West Virginia is America's mountain playground set within the Appalachian Mountains. The state is renowned for its dramatic scenery and outdoor adventure opportunities. It also has a rich coal-mining heritage.

When here, travellers can’t miss out on exploring the New River Gorge National Park and Preserve (new national park here). The place remains surrounded by hikers, rock climbers and mountain bikers. Also, Harpers Ferry here is perfect for those who wish to get an insight into the country's Civil War history.

Plan a trip during spring and autumn. The place looks phenomenal.

4/5

Wyoming

Wyoming is America's least populous state and is known as "The Equality State." It was also the first U.S. territory to grant women the right to vote. But the main and the biggest attraction here is the globally famous Yellowstone National Park. Visitors come here to witness Old Faithful geysers, hot springs, waterfalls, and wildlife. Wyoming also preserves much of its cowboy culture.

Summer is the best time to explore the beauty of Wyoming.

5/5

Wisconsin

Wisconsin is so much more than its cheese and other dairy products. But honestly, the state is known for producing millions of pounds of cheese every year. It is also known as "America's Dairyland." But there’s so much more here like stunning lakes, deep forests, and colourful cities.

The capital city of Madison always ranks among America's most livable cities which are also bike friendly. The Apostle Islands National Lakeshore is famous for sea caves and offers stunning views of Lake Superior.

Plan a trip in summer when the temperature is warm. Winters are perfect for snow sports and holiday markets.
