Micromax announces 19 products including Canvas 6 and Canvas 6 Pro smartphones
Indian smartphone major Micromax is going for a brand overhaul. At an event in Gurugram (the new name for Gurgaon) today, the company unveiled a new logo and announced a slew of new products including smartphones, tablets and LED TV.
Micromax also announced launching of e-stores.
On smartphones front, the company announced Canvas 6 and Canvas 6 Pro. Both the smartphones are mid-range phablets priced at Rs 13,999. Canvas 6 and 6 Pro have 5.5-inch fullHD screens and are powered by the MediaTek Helio X10 Tru-octa processor. The duo have 13-megapixel rear camera and same 3,000 mAh battery.
Coming to differences, while Canvas 6 has a 8-megapixel front camera; Canvas 6 Pro's front camera is 5-megapixel. Similarly, Canvas 6 has a fingerprint scanner on the back, a feature missing in Canvas 6 Pro.
Other differences include 3GB RAM on Canvas 6 versus 4GB of RAM on Canvas 6 Pro. Also, Canvas 6 offers 32GB of in-built storage, while Canvas 6 Pro has 16GB storage.
Micromax also launched other smartphones at the event including Bolt Supreme, Bolt Q381, Canvas Spark 2+, Canvas Evok, Canvas Mega 2 and Canvas Unite 4.
Domestic handset maker, which has seen its marketshare fall in the past few months, recently partnered Visa and TranServ to offer unique digital solutions specifically designed to meet the demands of the 'mobile-first' Indian consumers.
According to research firm IDC, Micromax stands at second position in the Indian smartphone market with 14.1% market share. However, the company has been facing increasing competition from both home-grown and China-based vendors and as a result saw fall in shipments both year-over-year and over the previous quarter.
