Satyamev Jayate 2: What makes Aamir the best?

Aamir Khan once again brings his best side to the show Satyamev Jayate 2 where Mr. Perfectionist ensures he strikes the right chord with audiences. In season 1 of his debut TV show, Aamir highlighted the alarming issues plaguing society, often considered taboo and little did he know that his show would break all records to be the most appreciated nonfiction show on TV. We list five reasons why Aamir Khan's the best, especially when it comes to Satyamev Jayate.

Emotional Connect- Ignore his crying on the show. It's the other way round for audiences on the show and viewers watching Satyamev Jayate. It's his poignant way of bringing up causes and issues in a delicate way that touches the heart. Aamir knows how and when to ask what, keeping in mind the emotional and mental state of the person coming on the show, be it calling brides who were victims of dowry or people who had been sexually abused as children on season 1. Season 2 was no different. In the opening episode of season 2 on 2nd March 2014, Aamir hit where it hurt the most: a woman's dignity and life itself. As host, he discussed the sensitive topic of rape and what hinders the process of a woman getting justice in India. This makes for the number one reason on our list as to why Aamir is the best!

Selection of Themes- When the first episode of Satyamev Jayate season 1 aired on TV, everyone was curious about what Aamir would talk about on his debut show on TV. And he surprised everyone when he spoke about female foeticide. That particular episode broke all TRPs and became a topic of discussion on all social networking sites and also on micro blogging site Twitter. That particular episode made the government sit up and Aamir appealed to the masses to unite and requested the Govt. of Rajasthan to set up a special court for speedy trials for female feticide cases that have been pending in different courts of the state over the years. Then there were topics like Child sexual abuse, Dowry system in India, Medical malpractice, Physical Disabilities, Love marriages and Honour killings in India, Domestic Violence, Casteism and Untouchability to name a few. Even on the opening episode of season 2, Aamir spoke about the need to fight rape, starting with Nirbhaya's case and going on to talk about the lack of co operation from police officials and medics. Kudos to him.

Thorough Research- Trust Aamir to be fully involved in his films projects or talk show. If it's coming from 'Mr. Perfectionist', except nothing but true facts. And every episode so far has proven this, be it the well researched statistics of crimes or calling experts on the subjects and doing his homework before bringing it to the nation. In the process, Aamir also educates viewers by making them aware not only of the topic raised, but also citizens' rights and what the laws of this country have to say or helpline numbers to reach. 'Satyamev Jayate' is not just a talk show, it's a battle against the evil practices prevailing in India, an appeal to the masses to unite together to fight against crime. Aamir is not the 'Oprah Winfrey' of India as dubbed by many across the country. He's an original! A thumbs up to the entire team for the effort and research.

Brings about change in society- According to reports, Season 1 of Satyamev Jayate apparently garnered 1.2 Billion impressions on the web. Following Aamir's first episode on Female foeticide in India, the actor met with Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot to discuss various means and strategies to fight the evil malpractice of female foeticide. After the episode aired on 6th May 2012, within a few days itself changes were visible when on 10th May 2012, when licenses were suspended of six sonography centres by The Rajasthan Government. Even the Madhya Pradesh Health Department took action by suspending the licenses of 65 Medical Termination of Pregnancy Centres for not submitting their final reports. Aamir is said to have found an admirer in the form of the late politician Bal Thackeray who is said to have lauded the actor's efforts.

Unaffected by praise or criticism- Aamir Khan also wears his thinking cap that thinks of unique ways and means to promote his films or show. That apart, the actor has never been bothered by what either the press writes or what people say. The actor and talk show host has always stuck to his business and has never been swayed by praise or criticism. Whether it is the hysteria he has created with a show like Satyamev Jayate or the criticism he received for supporting the Narmada Bachao Andolan (NBA) for which activist Medha Patkar was also fighting. The actor received a lot of flak but he called a press conference and refused to apologize for speaking up for farmers and their rehabilitation. This caused a stir in Gujarat, especially with the Narendra Modi governemnt and his film Fanna was banned in the state. As reported in Rediff.com, the actor was also quoted saying that he would also support the Kashmiri Pandits, saying that he would voice his opinion on terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir. The actor has been criticised for his political ambitions but the actor has been unbothered and continues to stand up for what he believes in.
