'As a Hindu...': Zoho founder Sridhar Vembu defends Tulsi Gabbard over Bible verse tweet, calls out Laura Loomer online

Popular Indian billionaire and Zoho founder Sridhar Vembu is known for his controversial posts and unique wit. The entrepreneur is now making headlines for stepping in to defend Tulsi Gabbard, the US Director of National Intelligence. Vembu called out MAGA activist and far-right conservative Laura Loomer for attacking Gabbard for using a Bible verse in a recent post shared on X.The row began when Loomer alleged that Gabbard was "pretending to be a Christian," after the latter shared a verse from the Bible on social media following her resignation. "Tulsi is a lifelong Hindu. Yet nobody seems to know that. She should embrace it. This screenshot is from Tulsi Gabbard's own YouTube channel," continued Loomer, sharing photos of Hindu rituals from Gabbard's Hawaiian wedding.The post came after Loomer publicly celebrated Gabbard's sudden resignation online.Sridhar Vembu soon took to X to call out Loomer, adding that as a Hindu, the entire universe is divine and it is normal for a person to respect other religions. “Laura Loomer appears not to know this, but as a Hindu, the entire Universe, all of it, is the Divine. Going to a Church and praying to Jesus is perfectly fine and I have done it myself on many occasions. I often quote the Bible and my favourite verse is Matthew 25:40 where Jesus says: 'Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.'" That is the call to service,” he wrote.“What would be a sin for me as a Hindu would be to call what other people hold sacred as ‘Demonic’, which unfortunately a Christian pastor recently did to Hindu deities,” he added.Vembu shared that this is why Sanatana Dharma is the most tolerant spiritual system in the world and the "world needs to understand the eternal Dharma, if we all have to get along."Vembu's call out towards Loomer received mixed reactions online. The couple is said to have met around 2012 when Abraham volunteered as a photographer and videographer for Tulsi's congressional campaign in Hawaii.
