Shakti Anand aka Hemant Virani turns 40

Shakti Anand was born and brought up in Delhi, in a Punjabi family. He attended university at the Tamil Education Association in Delhi and majored in the Science stream. After that, he received his master’s degree in pharmaceutical engineering. Shakti received the offer to act in the television show ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’ while he was working as a medical examiner with GE Capital in Delhi. Shakti played the role of Hemant Virani in the show.

Shakti played a blind boy in telefilm ‘NayanJyoti’ for Doordarshan. In 2004, he also hosted the first season of the crime reality show Crime Patrol. Shakti has acted in a large number of TV shows including ‘Balika Vadhu’, ‘Bharat Ka Veer Putra - Maharana Pratap’, ‘Aahat’, ‘Good Morning Zindagi’, ‘Saara Akaash’, etc.

Shakti is a big foodie and whenever he comes to visit his parents in Delhi, he has his food plans sorted. "Whenever I am in Delhi, I always eat chhole kulche, chhole bhature and all the street food that one gets here. Back in Mumbai, I don't get to eat all this, so if I am in Delhi, it's always these things that attract me. My friends who stay in Delhi and eat these things virtually every day get really irritated by my food habits," says Shakti.
